Joe did good....REAL GOOD!

And he still has the better part of the month left to hunt; we should be in for some good stories when he is finished hunting.
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside thoroughly used up, totally worn out, with bible in hand and loudly proclaim...WOW...What a Ride!!!

That is a nice deer but for whatever reason, when I first looked at the pic, I thought the deer's head was coming out of Joe's fly.  I might need more sleep.
Take a kid hunting!

Holy COW (OK...BULL!), Joe!!

Man I'm happy as heck for you!  Congrats!

Coolest bow hunt I ever witnessed on TV was a mulie hunt where the trad archer stalked onto a rock....and shot the buck from about 10yds (above him).  I HAVE to hunt them, one day!

Congrats, again, Whip!  That is an awesome trophy!

Caddo

Or was it just runnin' by and Joe just reached out and snatched the front end offn' it?

I'm at the top of the mountain and found a spot with cell service, so will try to post. It won't be in the style of Lamb.

Deer encounters have been few and far between, but Tues. AM we tried a new area. Encountered some elk,and watched them for awhile. Then headed on up the hill into a mature aspen stand. Spotted this guy feeding ahead of me and knelt down. He fed toward me but turned away at the last minute. I'm guessing 30 yds, and I decided to try. Hit back a bit. But quartering away I thought might be good.

Couldn't find blood after waiting an hour so backed out and came back at noon. Still coukdn't find blood and I started to really worry. Just about ready to start grid search when I finally found a spot of blood, and from that point iut wasn't bad. He only made it about 150 yds.

Sorry for the pooir pic. Didn't have my phone with me in the field. Camera pics will have to wait.

This one feels real good. 10 previous trips with a mulie tag in my pocket with no success. Lucky number 11 I guess. Thanks for the well wishes.
