i need help picking out the proper spined arrow. kinda want the arrow weight to be between 550gr and 625gr. i'll be shooting a d/r longbow that i made. the draw weight is right at 50 lbs at my draw length. i plan on using the old school bear razorheads with the bleeders installed, and a 75 gr steel adapter and a 50 gr brass insert. this can all be changed to reach the desired arrow weight.
thanks in advance,eric

Old Bears greenies are 145 grains + 75 + 50 so that is 270 grains up front....

Still need to know your draw to come up with a shaft...Actually need the length of the finished arrow you are looking for.

i would prefer the arrow be no shorter than 29inmy draw length is right at 28 in.

my educated guess would be 2016 for the final weight & shootability. works for me with that weight at 53#@28 from my long bow that is cut to center.

Fletcher

Tapered Douglas Fir with a 160 gr point, probably 55-60 lb spine unless you cut the bow pretty close to center.

I kinda like the Fir ideal also

Gold Tip 55/75 will serve you well.

Bear greenies are 125,with bleeder,no adaptor.I have 6 laying here beside the computer. These are the 1964 model, never sharpened, and they range from 115 to 125,bleeder included.

I assume you want carbons as 50 gr brass inserts aren't available for aluminums.

I made a set of 55/75 GT's trads that are 28" long and 285 grs up front and they weigh about 594 grs total. If you use the black shafts vs the Trad wood grain ones, they are slightly lighter.

Eric ,
I shoot a simuliar setup to yours ( arrow weight around 550 ) and I shoot 2018 cut to 30 in. with 145 point and 60 /65 cut to 29 in. with 145 point . I dont see why either set up wouldnt work for you with maybe only a point weight adjustment up or down . Is your bow a self bow or fiberglass bow and is it close to center cut ?

thanks for the help so far. the strike plate is cut 1/8in from center, and it's a fiberglass bow.  keep the suggestions coming. i would prefer carbon, but i am also open to the idea of wood or aluminum.
thanks,eric
