Picked up a nice 60" hunter from 450mag.
This guy really knows hwo to package a bow for shipping.
With what seems a big brace height. The string measures 56".
Just doesnt look right.
Any opinions on what it should be???

If it were me, I would start of at 7 3/4" and work on finding the sweet spot from there, which I think you will find between 7 1/2-8 1/2". I know that is a big range, but some of those Bears (K-hunters, Super K's, K-mags) liked a higher brace height. I haven't found one yet that is the same, each one has its own "happy place". Enjoy your tuning.

I, too, have the privilege of owning a 60" Kodiak and like you thought the brace height seemed to be high with the endless loop string that accompanied it. I had to start BH at 9" but now have it set at 8 1/2", and it is shooting great.

I ended up with mine at between 8 1/4" & 8 1/2" Seemed to like a high brace the best.

I'll need to get a new string to get her down alil.
Will be a good lesson my son will have to learn getting her tuned up right for him.

The Bears like a 56" string. They aren't AMO     :)

The 56" which is what is on it now gives me a 9" brace and wouldn't give the option of less.
I guess a flemish would stretch enough to allow some reduction? or order a 55" and twist up?

Kings, for what it is worth, mine also came with the 54" string and endless loop. I favour Flemish and was about to build one when I realized the endless loop was doing everything I could want with the string, so I left it, kept shooting, the string stretched and I ended up with 8 1/2" and perfect flight. The string has no twist in it to keep that brace height, a couple of wool silencers and all you hear on release is a light "thud". I likely will build a Flemish for it sometime in the future but see no reason to change it right now anyway.

If it's a newer string it will stretch out more than enough to give you some BH range.

Had to come back, the bow has a 54" string on it? Are you sure it's a 60" and not a 58"?

Dave,
Nice pick up on my typo. The string is 56".

My KH has it's original endless loop string.  It measures 55 inches and gives a brace height of 9&1/4.  Guess I've never thought about trying a lower brace.  The bow seems to like the high string.  Guess I'll make a flemish for it and play a little.
