Ok all you Shrew shooters out there, I need some advice. I got a 58" Super Shrew Deluxe coming my way. It's specs are 58#@28". I guess I'll be drawing 55# at my 27" draw length. What is the recommended brace height? What is a good starting point for nocking position? And finally, I want to shoot POC arrows. What spine would shoot great at my specs? 28" arrow with 125 grain tips. Think I'm gonna order those Redbird arrows from Mr. Laclair. Thanks Jim

WESTBROOK

A lot of people I here are about 7.5" brace ht. Probably 5/8-9/16 nock. I would email Ron on the arrows, I think he draws 27" and could probably put you right on the money for spine.

Jim,

Nobody know better than "Mr. LaClair".  Period.

Have him send you the right arrows with the bow and all the other info comes on a nice information sheet with your bow.

ThomastaylorIII

if you check the string and arrow i sent with it when it gets there you should be very close. i didn't have a field point to send with it but 150grain should make it shoot well at your draw. Im a paper tuning freak, man your going to love her, i sure did.

Oh no, I'm sorry. I meant it's a new to me Shrew that I bought from the classifieds here.

ThomastaylorIII

by the way 55-75 gold tip is what i sent you, ted nuget series, it was the last one i had that was tuned for the bow, i had cut the rest of them off for my widow.

Cedar arrows I'm betting 65/70 spine with your specs. I have a 53# that shoots 60/65 with 125 points.

jrchambers

i have a samurai with the same specs as yours, but i draw over the 28 a little.  i have a bh of 7.5 i cant stand it any lower.  if you have a six strand string be carefull they shoot like a dream but just one or two failed strand or a broken nock can be scary, but i still love the way they shoot.  great bow

Ray Lyon

My Super Shrew Samurai is shooting perfect at 7" braceheight.  I would start there and work up.  Nock points are really a personal preference.  I agree with Steve O. above with regards to arrows, Ron will help you fill out the order form for Redbird arrow spine.

Welcome to the clan of Shrews!

p.s.  i've been shooting the same 6 strand string for years now. I've had no problem with broken strands or strings.

I finally got pics taken. This bow is smooth and quiet! Man I love this bow. Been shooting Axis 340's with 225gr. up front. Magnus 2 blades. I'll be out again this weekend. Thanks Mr. LaClair for a great bow. Hopefully I'll get my woodies for Christmas. Jim

Best experience is someone elses and the easiest way through a mine field is to go after someone who has been through it  (RECENTLY)...Ron is the source for this I think..He was right on the money for my arrows for my ACS and for the shrew.

Welcome to the crew.  Great looking bow.  Most Shrews are very easy to tune and it may shoot a wide variety of spines well, but start at about 15# over the draw weight.  Have fun!

Happiness is a good Shrew. Not that there's such a thing as a bad Shrew!  :goldtooth:
