I watched a video from another archery site & the doe "jumped string" severely, one can see the lighted nock approaching her as she ducks.

Don't deer see the nock coming at them?
Doesn't the light alert them even more?

you bet. They can see that baby coming from a long ways off. I have one but I put some black tape around it so they can't see the sides of it and I can still see the end.

I suppose they duck fireflies too...

From another angle on em,a friend of mine wounded a deer with an arrow with an illuminated nock because when they get cold,the nock stays on the string and you know what that does to arrow flight!!

you can make your own for really cheap 3 bucks a piece instead of 10, and yes i agree with biggie they can see your lumenocks. i have also used the tape.

I've been using them for three years and never had a problem. Never missed a deer because of the nock. I would never hunt without one. Most of my deer are shot at dawn or dusk, when light is low. These nocks let me know 100 percent, whether I made a quick clean kill or a marginal shot. No more second guessing, no more pushing wounded deer looking for blood. Plus, come in handy when hunting hogs during a full moon. Do not look for a hog unless you are sure its dead. Trust me.

someone sent me a pm to see how to make the homemade ones.
you get the bobber replacement lights, must be the ones that push down to turn them on. take two arrow knocks, cut one in half, you need the side that fits into the arrow. then you glue the light into the cut arrow nock.
make sure there is enough of the light sticking out so you can slide it into the other nock and turn it on. this is key!!!!
push the light into your arrow and place a shooting nock over it and turn it one.
push the nock down until it is all the way in the arrow and the light should be on. pull the nock off and turn the light off.
push the nock back down but not far enough to turn the light on. when you shoot the nock will slide all the way down and turn the light on.

these are the bobber lights i use. you can get them at academy in texas for 2.99 or basspro for about the same.

i will post pictures tomorrow. it sounds complicated but it is really simple.

in montana they would be considered illegal, weather the law is inforced or not is the officers discretion.

Hey biggie, I think you should just use one of the "lighted bobbers" for the places you like to hunt.

I love my lumenoks. They take the guess work out of shot placement in low light. People that have problems with them usually aren't using them correctly. I have never had a deer or bear see them coming. In fact, light only travels in a straight line. So as the light comes out the back of the shaft the light beam is going right back to the shooter. I have one interesting story. I under shot a small buck at an apple tree near dark. The lumenok was shining brightly right where it landed. The deer, because my  bow is so quiet, only got startled and ran only 15 or 20 yards. Eventually they settled down and came back to the apple tree. It was pitch black by the time they returned and the lumenok never even got a second look from the as they fed all around it. I also use a red headlamp to get in and out of my stands in the dark. Red light is supposed to be invisible to deer or is that  a myth?

FYI, P&Y considers these as an electronic device and are illegal.  But, they do work great.

Hmmmm....seems like these buggers may be of some help after all. How much do they typically weigh? I've concerns regarding dynamic arrow spine and going through massive tuning again.
