I'm looking at buying a longbow to get back into shooting and hunting.

My problem is I can't find any shops that carry any, and I really don't want to buy something I haven't shot first.

Where do you buy your bows?

Hello bartcanoe,

I'm located in Mebane, NC which is about 100 mi north of Fayetteville. We (Eagle's Flight Archery) have about 100 used recurve and longbows with a few new Martin bows. You would be welcome to shoot (inside) any bow that you may be interested in. You can call for directions if interested. Number is 919 563-2682.

There you go...hope you find a sweet shooter.
I came back to the longbow in the late '90s, after a visit to Ben Graham of Hummingbird Bows. He's a NC bowyer. New custom bows aren't cheap.
Mike Treadway is another NC bowyer you could visit.

I'd call 2fletch and have a talk. You can usually sell a bow you bought used for about the same money if you take care if it.
Happy trails....   ('till we meet again, Dale Evans Rogers)

Woodchuck is right, we have several really good bowyers here in NC. Along with Ben Graham and Mike Treadway, Bill Stroupe is another one. If you're into primitive bows then James Parker makes some really nice stuff.
