Wow! A lot is going on in the short span of time it takes to shoot an arrow! Very enlightening.

I do think he shot underspined for the video.  :D    Lin

Yea Lin, I was thinking the same thing as I watched those "snakes" coming off the bow. The last shot pretty much eliminated any doubt about it though.

I would like to know what material the arrow was made out of and also if the the spine of the arrow was weak?

I think the first few weren't badly spined shafts.
We just don't realise how much these things flex when shot.

The Whittler

Years back I seen a video, the camera was looking down at the archer. When the string was let go the nock of the arrow had moved in an 1"inch before the rest of the arrow started to move. They do bend alot.

was shooting a 55lb super k. in 1968. brand new 55-60 spined bear arrows fresh out of the 1 dozen box. first one exploded and went through my bow arm wrist.arrow stops at half draw. think that wasn't fun pulling string with remainder of arrow still noked to pull it out? swore i would never shoot wood again, and don't.

Oh god that's horrible.

When I first studied trad archery, I realized how these arrows fly off the shelf and at what angle to the direction I was aiming.  The flex and trajectory are amazing, especially with wood arrows.  The fellow shooting the under-spined arrow in the video was armored up in anticipation of the blow out.  I loved it
thanks
