Well, my pictures just do not capture how gorgeous this bow is.  I've been away all week on business and after catching up with the wife and kids last night, I got to put together my new Ebony beauty.  56#@28" 60" Fast Flight.  Dave did a little extra special checkering for me.  Sunday morning I will take it for a spin around the broadhead course

Steve O, that is simply gorgeous. I demoed a 3pc longbow this spring. As fine a bow as I have ever shot.

As some of you know, I've joined the silvertip club. Only 9 months and 3 weeks to go!  :banghead:   These photos are awesome

Dave sent me the scraps from my riser and Ray Hammond built this beauty:

I've got some more pics posted in the knife crafter forum, but thought you all might like to see...

I love my  64" Schafer 1 piece longbow, especially its grip. One of the best bows made out there. Actually, there's a RH for sale right now.
As far as recurves go, I had one made for me but sold it after a 2 months struggle with it. I know I might make some "enemies" (hopefully in the playful sense of the word) with die hard Schafer recurve owners, but I have to say that I did not like it. It was not very fast and was too heavy, although the limbs were beautiful, and the checkered grip was flawless. The color/stain of the rosewood FF dymonwood riser was more like a burgundy color that I didn't find attractive, and the bow finish got scratched much TOO easily. Lastly, I don't care for cut past center shelves on trad bows. It reminds me of wheel bows, and it made arrow tuning a freakin' nightmare for me... I say it again,...for me.       :)            just my humble opinion

Nice bows-I shot one for years and ended up selling it. I didn't like how it feels a little top heavy. Deecnt, but not great speed. Loved the checkered grip, but there are other bows that I am more consistent with.

Schafer recurve bows are of a time tested and field proven design.   Paul was an excellent bowyer and a fantastic outdoors man but Dave and Beth have taken their Schafer products to a new level in regards to quality of craftsmanship.  Beauty and function.  What else is there?

MJB

Steve O I thought so. Beth was sending us both pics of the Macassar blocks she had on hand to choose from. She mentioned another guy wanted Macassar Ebony too. Congrats on one BEAUTIFUL bow.

Great bows! I had the pleasure of shooting not only the legendary "Border Bob's" bow but also the honor of shooting one of Paul's own bows complete with stories about it by Barry Wensel! Barry was kind enough to let us all take some shots with it!

Paul gave me my first Silvertip when I was a very young man, I'm now 48 and still shooting them. I'm hunting with one that Dave built for me and its every bit as good of bow that Paul made. heres a pic its a 64" 70lb with camo limbs and checkered grip.

I've got enough confidence in Dave that I am not worried about the warranty...

i think ric anderson hit the nail right on the head..

alex b.,  i respect your honest opinion. i have a schafer recurve and longbow and they are certainly different bows w/ a diffent feel, as is expected. imo they are both excellent but i usually stick w/ one for the season.

either way, LB or curve, you can't go wrong w/ a schafer
