I'm with you Otto, I can't shoot a longbow worth a lick. Although I did shoot a MOAB at Compton with a respectable degree of accuracy. IAfter trying to switch, I realized that why should I. I shoot my recurve very accurate so why should I switch. I like the center cut a lot better. Now if a longbow had a center cut? Well maybe?

Benha, went through the same thing, I shot recurves since the sixties, for some reason a friend from Texas that came to hunt with me left me a nice longbow as a gift, I thought about wraping that thing around a tree on many occasions, I,m thankful for my built in never give up attitude. After alot of phonecalls to people with alot of longbow experience, I,m finally to the place where I feel I have it really dialed in, Almost 2 years of shooting everyday, rain, snow, etc I think I can say I got her down, somewhat? and there is no way I,m changing back and forth, My recurve is a herters metal riser high wrist and my longbow Is just that, a longbow. the poundage is close but that is about it. Hang in there you,ll love it some day. man they are nice to carry up and down them hills.

Let me clarify. The first time I shot a longbow (Thanks Mr Stout) I took to it like I was born shooting it, my issue is that I never shot the recurve as well as I do the longbow with the exception of a Martin X-200. Go figure huh?

I shoot my recurve, longbow, and composite horn bows   all the time.
After a few dozen shots, I am doing pretty good on each, the composite bow is the hardest to get back into, as it has a completely different draw. (thumb ring)

I have switched many times and I know in my heart I'm a longbow shooter. Once in a while a recurve looks so good with it's curves and speed, but the simplicity of the longbow and it's ease of stringing and carrying in the field brings me right back. I also have a natural tendency to med-heavy cant a bow and the l.b. seems to shoot better for me that way.
