Finished this nice lefty at 40# today.  Maple riser with a stabilized and dyed I-beam, quilted Maple veneers dyed green over Bamboo cores. Supermax K2 finish, wet sanded and buffed. The riser trim is Padauk and the tips have a layer of Phenolic under dyed and stabilized Maple. The bow is headed to New Jersey. Thanks for looking!

what did he do that was all that he did?

That is a chunk of stabilized and dyed spalted Maple, made by vacuuming the air out of the wood and replacing it with dyed polymer in pressure tanks. I buy a lot of it from knife making suppliers...knife scales (handles). eBay has lot of folks selling this stuff. Just type in "stabilized wood" and let your imagination run wild!
