Building bows is addictive. Here is my second attempt. This is my own riser design taking elements from bows other people have built that I appreciate. Riser is 15" long will make a 58" bow. Thanks for looking

Haven't figured out how to keep the pictures in order.

Thanks to Kenny's custom archery for the supplies.

Wedges look good! Just FYI I run mine thru feathered end first, if the sander will do it, the stop on back keeps wedge from sliding.
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Kenny, I did the same as you.

Debating wether or not to hide the I beam on the front of the riser. I didn't want to see it on the back and am considering hiding it on the front as well. Using black glass and action boo with rosewood accents similar to my last build. Thinking dark and deadly for this one which will probably be for my oldest son to shoot.

First limb is cooling in the form, second is laid out and inserts are installed.  :archer2:

It looks great.  It emanates speed!  :)

Limbs are contoured and everything ground parallel on the drum sander.

1/4" tiller right out of the form.

Brace height looks like it will be around 9 which is about right for Binghams limbs.

There were 3 changes for this build. Limb pad angle, bamboo cores instead of maple and the riser is shorter. Using the 40# formula for Binghams 64"x 1.75 limbs rough weight it right at 50#@28". Limbs still need some balancing.

Next step is limb tip overlay, limb bolt overlay, string groove overlay and finger overlay.
I've never done the string groove overlay so I'm going to search through trad gang for info. I saw where Kirk uses his limb form , believe I will copy that approach. Any advice from you guys that have been there is appreciated. :help:

I'll bet you wish you hadn't offset the G-10 I beam so far. Next time use a thinner piece of G-10 and leave 1/2" of wood for your thumb ledge, and it can be completely hidden.

Cool looking riser though....   Kirk

Another trick for those string groove overlays is to lay them up at the same time you lay up your limbs...

Here is a film clip..... keep in mind this is an older video and I use a totally different heat strip system now... but you'll get the idea of what I'm talking about.

Your reading my mind here. That was my intention completely missed the mark. I'm going to finish it and see how it plays out. I have the next riser started so still time to add some material to the off side.
