One more...went to put the calf hair rest on...there was not one in my drawer.. my son robbed me! It will be here tomorrow...
Got to figure out how to box it up to ship.

Trying to get some better lighting to show the sycamore stripe and grain.

Appalachian Hillbilly

The hair rest came today.  Made a string, burnished it with a piece of leather  and some string wax. Will leave it strung overnight and serve it at brace height in the morning over coffee. Then go ship it!

update.  I just finished steaming the osage stave and will start on the tillering stages.

I got most of the finish done and will complete it over the next couple days and then a little more work before she's ready to go.

Here's a teaser for the finish.

That blue really sets that bow off. Somebody be happy.

Agree with Mike.  That blue really pops.  Looks like it even gathers a little bit of light?

Well, I got a package today from Ken (Hillbilly)
The finish on this bow looks great and has a great draw cycle.
I'll get to shoot it this week and get some full draw pics up.
In the mean time, here are a couple detail picks. Great wood combo as well.

Appalachian Hillbilly

That was a hard one not to give away when talking about it. Not many of you victims have a 31" draw! That is the first one I have made for anywhere  near that draw length! Please let me know how it works and any feedback is appreciated! Don't hold back either!

Just got the lettering done and shot the last coats of finish.  She's really pretty if I do say so myself.  Finished right at weight with a pretty flat resting profile.  I'll get the handle wrapped and shoot it a few more times in finished state, take some more pics and video, and then package it up and ship on Friday.

Looking good fellas!  Last day of the official build window is tomorrow.  I will post stats once we get there, but we are looking pretty good!

Jon Lipovac

Here's the bow review on the bow Ken made for me.
64" longbow 48#/31"
Great draw cycle, no noticeable stack which makes it really easy to shoot, and sends em where I point them.

Thank you Ken!

Arrow flight looks pretty good.  Bow fits you very nicely.

Decided to back the osage with sinew after a light darken spot while steaming. Probably from the edge of the steaming pot.  It is about mid limb.

Meanwhile, I've been processing some sinew and just about ready to apply with Titebond Genuine Hide Glue.  Both the steaming and sinew...new to me.

Grace period for me and will be working on some other project(s) to go with while the sinew is drying.

Coaching Track and Field is really demanding this year.

Thanks

I won't be able to ship until Monday.  I thought I had all my leather stuff somewhere but the shop reno and my new organization method, ie. throwing it all in the attic, has bit me again :)  I'll have to get the handle stitched up after a trip to get some stuff.  Thanks.
