Any ideas?

Anybody have a best guess as to what kind of wood this is?
I'm guessing ash. No matter what, sure is some pretty wood to be used as a packing strip.

Almost looks like bocote to me, but I'm no expert. Maybe someone else who knows more than me will chime in.

It is bocote.
They have cut the sapwood off.

The packing wood you get from Bingham's , something is wrong with it in there eyes.


I have used some for over and underlays.

That's boxote with the sapwood still on it.

Looks more like Mongolian Tulip wood to me. I've worked with plenty of it.

Could be zebra. It's fairly cheap and I've got it as packing and strips before
