Dave, them both look GREAT! i'd be happy with either but lean more toward the first one with higher weight. my wife says, "nice garden. what do you grow?" women.

Say wood carver those two bows you just posted are just beautiful and seriously doubt anyone would be worried about them being a little off the desired weight.I know they're not coming this way  more's the pity, but for myself I'm happy to receive a bow over a 15# weight range, and I'm sure most others could accommodate a fair amount of tolerance in their asked for draw weight.

I agree with BigBob, whoever gets either of those bows would be thrilled.

David, if it's me, I'd take whichever one you think shoots the sweetest and weight is secondary. It's always good to have a lighter bow to practice form with, shoot 3D, or teach someone with. I find an underweight bow gets shot a lot, but that an overweight bow rarely makes it off the peg.

I would agree with this 100%.

Smell feet?  Was that an auto correct or just over my head?

Like the others have said. A light bow is much better than a too heavy bow. If it is for me I would take either. They look great.

Thanks for your kind words guys. Everything I know about building bows I learned right here. Each one that comes out a shooter and not firewood is a thrill.
Both are nice shooters, so I think I'll finish up the heavier one and twist up a new string for it.

Craig, those two gardens are raised because I
live in an old gravel pit and there's no top soil at all. I had to haul in all the soil I needed to grow a few tomatoes and veggies.

Well I got some Osage lams from Roy to add to the belly of my hickory backed Ipe. I heated them up and clamped them to the bow to get the contour of the fade. All was looking good. I did a little flattening of the belly and was checking the tiller before applying the bellies and kablooie. I had it tillered to 26" with only some minor adjustments needed and this time I exercised it to 20" with all looking good. I then pulled it to 22" and it let go with a bang. I got some photo's but the camera died before I could upload them. I'll post some pics later tonight.
Plan B is going to be a HBH pyramid board bow. I will glue it up tonight and get to shaping it later in the week. I will probably do a straight limbed HBH as well as plan C, just in case.

My trade bow left Omaha, NE yesterday and is spending the night in Oklahoma City tonight...half way home!  

Mine left San Diego today with an ETA of tomorrow...

Needless to say, I was a bit shocked to find dwill standing at my doorway.  Part of the shock was he was dressed kinda like a Ninja.  Turned out later that black scrubs are his work uniform!     The next shock was that he was holding my trade bow in his hands.  I did not recognize it as a bow right off since it was cased in a beautiful hand sewn tube type case.

I can only hope that my recipients bow is half as nice as Dan's.

Meanwhile, arrows flew from this bow as though I'd been shooting it for years.  Dan built a KennyM design ReDe bow that simply draws and shoots naturally.  I'm no great shakes of a shot, but was able within a few arrows launched to place arrows as well as with bows I have been shooing for twenty years.

All this shooting done with some crude arrows that I doweled out and built from a home depot pine board.  The bow forgave the shooter and the arrows!

All I can say is a huge thanks to Dan for this wonderful build.  This bow will certainly inspire my future projects, but probably will not equal it.

ouch, that sucks razorback.

98% of my arrows come from hardwood stores, HD, home hardware, reimers, i set up my router to turn them. got enough wood right now to make about 100+ shafts, waiting on my trade bow to decide on size to make. i do ALOT of aerial hunting so i tend to lose them or give them to friends for their turkey wings and deer/bear hides.

I'm going to send my swapbow tomorrow.
