Looking good timbermoose. Might consider heat treating the belly a tad. Don't need to, but it won't hurt unless you go super crazy. a light brown toasting will go a long way.

hey bud, what is the lam wood on the back? looks sweet. [/b]
The back of this one is kentucky coffee wood but I stained it trying for a bloodwood look. It came out heavier than I planned because it was my first really short bow attempt - 56"  I took it out to the hills to see how it would perform in hunting situations. Shoots very nice - but it is a bit heavy 61lbs at 28 and about 65lbs at my draw.

Just finished shaping some zebrawood limb tips on a bow that had horn tips. I broke one when the string slipped while stringing it, so ground them down put new tips on and will hopefully be shooting it soon. need to do some more finish work to it but am excited. This is a bow that Joe Millhimes gave me after I gave him my swap bow. I couldn't get a bow done last year so passed mine on and he didn't want me to miss out so he gave me one he had nearly finished. Mild R/D hickory backed ipe. Needs a little more finish and will be good to go.

Built myself a short draw asymmetric Scythian PVC bow to test both my new thumb rings (excellent, BTW) and to teach myself how to draw to my collarbone as they did.  Important skill in the chair.

just finished butchering 3 of my 4 last deer of the season- one more to do tomorrow evening!!

show us some pics half seminole!!

I'll get up and take some tomorrow.  Have to move my main chair in to fit it for a quiver anyway.

Made the lower limb too long.  Still have to turn sideways to shoot at all.  But my old bows would have scraped the ground at that point.  This one's a good bit stouter than what I normally draw, as I finally made myself some new thumb rings and can handle it again.

put the second coat of tung oil on my new bow rack.  convinced the old lady to let me hang my go to bows next to the back door  ;)   can you believe i pulled all this wood out of somebody's burn pile?  curly maple and walnut.

fujimo

And I thought setting up in that hunting stand on the back of a truck calling varmints and 4 am Sunday morning in 16 deg weather with 30 mph winds was cold... Well I guess it was for West Texas. Lol

bigbob2

I cant even begin to imagine that sort of cold.I feel frozen to the core when it gets down to -2-3c here! That temp. must be a heat wave over there!

yup, i cant even imagine it, when i was cowboying in alberta, i worked one day in - 60 cel weather- the only thing exposed was my actual eyeballs, and within minutes they started to throb an ache- my eyeballs had headaches!!!
it was only one day- and it was enough- i just cant fathom - 102!!!!!
