My serving tool is a red plastic one Minot sure but I think it is a bohning . I have a lot of trouble managing the tension with it , seems like it is either to tight or to loose cant get it right where I want it . I have checked and double checked the way the serving is routed on it and it is right? Is there a better tool on the market or any suggestions on what to try with mine?

I started with the red plastic one and had the same issues with tension. I went to a black plastic Bearpaw a few years ago. It's a huge improvement over my first one. Tension adjustment is easy and stays where I put it. I'm sure there's more choices but I've only tried the two and the bearpaw does great for me.

Bearpaw I have two of them and they work great. I had others but this is my favorite.

Or you could make it yourself.

Tightness is controlled with a spring and washers.

I had the same problem with my serving tool.  Does it have the wingnut on it?  Mine did and it was always coming loose every time I bumped it.  I replaced it with a lock nut and fine tune it with a wrench

I've heard of others replacing the bolt with a longer one so that a spring can be added between the red plastic housing and the wing nut. Suppose to make controling the tension easier and more precise. Haven't tried it yet myself but plan to.

The most frightening thing you are likely to encounter in nature is yourself.

Liked the little spinner as well, and i have a $10 from cajun archery that is very good.  You can't spin it like the spinner, but it's consistent and tight.

Scrub buster nailed it, get yourself a locking nut and your problems will be over.
