Nice pic, bob! Ya got lucky with that'n!

Cabbage, that riser looks awesome, but the leather does set it off nicely.

Dan Landis

Cabbage, would be a shame to cover up that beautiful wood, send her out naked!

Bob, your one lucky guy, was hopin that snakey one was coming my way.  Congrats!!!

bigbob2

I have to agree fellas, lucky lucky lucky. In fact I feel like just hanging it on my living room wall 'n' just looking at it, and making the missus nervous 'cause she hates snakes.

Okay, so I decided to put the leather on it.

I'm still kinda kicking myself for covering up the wood, but it does shoot awful nice.  Shot about 50 arrows through it and chrono'd it (just out of curiosity), and she shoots nice.  I think I've got a chunk of pipe laying around to mail it in, so I'll probably send her out tomorrow.  If not, it'll be Monday.

Feels good to be done guys!  Now I just hope my mail man doesn't have a vendetta against me and brings my bow soon!

I think it looks great that lighter color leather goes well with it.

Well I'm done with the turnarounds and shut downs at work and messed around and made a new string to fit plan A and B bows.... This one is plan A but it's 7 lbs light and has some belly checks I'm worried about but it's been pulled 1000 times at least at full draw but only shot it 10 times.

Plan B I need a few pics of but it shoots great done shoot several 100 through it.

Those bows look awesome. Cabbage I think the leather looks great. The bow I shipped got delivered on the 30th and still have no word from the recipient. I hope it made it there ok...sure would be nice to know it made it to its new home.

goobersan

too late to change my opinion Cabbage??  that handle wrap does look REAL nice. great job

Are ya'll putting string nocks on or letting the recipient do that? I don't mind putting one on, but I was thinking maybe it'd be better to let them do it so it fits thier arrows and such. Whaddya think?

I put a tied nock on so they could twist it up or down as needed.

Joe, that looks great!
Olin, the osage looks great, as well!
Joe, I usually tie a nock on but the recipient can move, or remove it.

OK here's where I'm at. Got the riser rough shaped, and the limbs are almost fully tillered. Need a few more scrapes on the top limb to lighten it up. Then a whole bunch of sanding.

Limb alignment turned out well, no big problems there, no big issues with limb twist .... everythign went pretty smoothly.

Limbs are hickory backed Jatoba with shedua core and hickory wedge, Riser is lightly figured maple and shedua. Tip overlays are water buffalo horn.

Only one real problem. at 4" brace and pulled to the desired draw length, I'm about 8-10# light. I figure I'll gaina few pounds with raising the brace to 6-7" and will lose a few pounds in the final sanding. I'm thinking I'm going to end up coming in 5# under weight .... Not sure what to do. We'll see how it shoots and finishes up and then decide I guess. Maybe I'll send a set of wood arrows to smooth things over with the new owner.

Specs are 68" ntn, 14" riser. Limbs taper from about 1.5" to .5" tips. I think it will look nice once I get it finished up. I'm planning to use wipe on satin poly, 4-6 coats depending on how it's looking.

Don't worry about being a bit light, that's a nice bow! Looking forward to seeing it done.
