Well Dave now you get to just sit and watch the rest of the bows being made.

I got mine shaped and thinned.

end to end.

I have alot of work yet but at least it looks like a bow. It is about .5" thick give or take and is flexing just a bit.

So far it is about 67" ttt, 1 1/2" wide until the last 10" then just straight taper to about 1/2".

I hope to have it on the short string by the end of next weekend but we shall see.

I hope ********* likes hickory long bows. Since the Osage recurve lifted a splinter just about 4" off the fades. It was in the center and not visible reason I can see for it. I have super glued it back down and will back the bow at a later date.

Well, I won't go into how I did it, but I done messed up and ended up under weight.  I tried to pike it, but still can't quite get there.  Other than that, I'm fairly happy with how that hickory stick came out.

I'm eyeballing the other side of the stave I split off.  I originally thought there wasn't enough there, but I'm starting to think it might just work fine.  I might tear into that tonight as I move to plan B.  I think if it doesn't go well though, I'm going to quickly move to plan C which will be BBI, which I feel the most comfortable with.

  TIME IS RUNNING OUT!!!

I leave for a long vacation July 3rd.  That doesn't leave me with much time.  I don't want to have to ask for an extension, not fair to my recipient.

(BTW, to whoever is making my bow:  I'd be just fine if it comes in under weight.)

Been strugglin with time to post pics and such but my bow is done and lacks only a finishing touch on the handle wrap.  It turned out beautiful and really shoots well for me.  I hate to let her go.  I am not going to be able to ship until the last week of June because of some travel I have scheduled but I will get her out in time.
Take a kid hunting!

Cant wait to see that one finished. Thanks roy.

Very nice inksoup. I especially like the stripe down the centre. Is that red beech on the back? Does it make a good bow wood? I still have some that I brought back from Malta. If it's good, I'll use some for a bow.

Ok finally finished my swap bow. hickory backed maple with hickory laminated handle. 72" 45# 1.5in at the fades tapering to 3/8th tips Linseed oil finish. Will probably get a coat of varnish before shipping. Unfortunately bow will have to go out without being shot it. I have no where to shoot so it could be a while before I have the chance. I'd rather get it out and have it'snew owner get it shooting sooner. Here are the pictures! Enjoy.

PEARL DRUMS

Have you shot any arrows from it Ben?

LittleBen

No. Have tillered and drawn many times but not shot unfortunately. I may try and find somewhere to let some arrows fly this weekend. I just dont wanna delay shipping too long. Never lived in the city until now, kinda used to shootin in the back yard or the woods but not around here.

LittleBen

I may have to suck it up and pay to use a range if I can find one nearby.

KellyG

heck roof top or I learned in the basement when I was in alaska. I just set up a range that was 10yrd.

PEARL DRUMS

I would suggets delaying shipment for as long as it takes to prove the bow. An unproven bow wont help your recipient one bit.

Stiks-n-Strings

I agree with Pearl It needs to be shot in before shipping.
