Very creative way to use the caul!!

Kelly your making great progress!!!
The American system of democracy will prevail until that moment when politicians discover that they can bribe the electorate with their own money

KellyG

Well here is what it looks like now.

There is some twist I need to get out yet but I think we are almost ready to start tillering. I will heat it up I hope tomorrow and get that twist out. It will have a month to sit after that before I can tiller it.

Thanks gentlemen that ideal came to me just last night. I had been struggling with how to get that bend out. It seems to have worked well.

wood carver 2

You're getting there Kelly!

" Vegetarian" another word for bad hunter.

Great work Trux and Bone Lake!Looking great Kelly!

KellyG

Well I could not wait and got board waiting on my uniforms to dry.

So I thought that I would get the twist out.

String through the handle

and the side profile I will be working with.

the pics show it is still off a little but I think I am going to let it rehydrate and stop procrastinating on tillering it.

It will be sitting for at least a month before I can get to it again.

SportHunter

Dang Kelly, you have to wait a whole month to finish my bow.....  :D

Great job on getting that twisted hunk of wood to submit, looks very good now.

Pat B

Kelly, you won't be able to actually tell how the string tracks(bow allignment) until you brace the bow. Work on getting to that point then worry about lining up the tips.  You will definately have to use a stringer for the first brace at least with those hooks.
Make the most of all that comes and the least of all that goes!

Ok guys my oh so lovely wife went to visit her family last week so I was able to get some more work done.  I'm working on the tiller now but I can't seem to get this flat spot out on the right mid limb.

By the way this is a R/D Bamboo backed Ipe with Ipe tips and riser.   I saw a carp swimming around in my dads pond that looks like a good size, and since the wife is gone and the wether is perfect...

"Yeah I'm gonna miss her."

Seriously if you reed this I will miss you....    :bigsmyl:

PS my tree isn't level with the door joints so it looks worse then it is.

PEARL DRUMS

Kelly if you cut about 2-3" off each tip you will save yourself miles of grey hair and anguish. Statics have to be dead nutz flat and straight to work. I agree with Pat in that you need to short brace (if you can) before you will know for sure where you need to go. Static recurves are a hoot arent they?

KellyG

Pat I was just putting that line on it to show how much closer they are.

Pearl I hope to have them uncurl and not be to static, but we shall see.

I will let it rehydrate and since My left hand will be in cast for about a month it has that long.

Roy from Pa

What happened to your hand Kelly?

KellyG

Roy I am getting a ganglion cyst removed on Wednesday.

Roy from Pa

Ok, thought ya may have developed a blister somehow..

KellyG

Nope Roy I popped them already.  :)

Mike Mecredy

I just sent a 54# @ 28", 64" D/R longbow, maple and walnut riser, to it's next owner.  It was the proto type for my new longbow design, and like all my proto types, I made it from materials left over from previous jobs.  You (a surprise) should see it in the next 3 days.  I apologize in advance for the green and white string. But the price was good, right?

Show me done this year Kelly, got one in, and got one done and sent.

Looking forward to next year.
