Built a recurve bow with Andreas. Thanks a lot Kenny for those fantastic walnut lams, they look awesome.

Sweet bow, Andy! I enjoy seeing your work.

Finally received a couple of blades for my cheapo bandsaw. I struggled with the tiny blades that came with the saw and it didn't cut worth a crap. Ordered a couple of wider blades and it is now cutting like a champ! Why didn't I order these earlier?   :knothead:

Excellent Ralph!!

Andy, those just popped under glass, was hopin the curl would show up! What is that on the lower limb, hopefully a reflection off something!!
Stay sharp, Kenny.

They already looked spectacular when I took them out of the box, but under the glass the colors really started to shine. No need to worry Kenny, it's just a reflection of the light.

Is that black walnut or claro walnut Andy?

Last couple days I made a new bow form following Kenny M's design for a 58" R/D. Layed up my first bow on the new form.

So far so Good! This bow is for a friend that wants to learn to make bows so he is going to take over from here.

I don't know, maybe Kenny can tell what it is.

Its really good black walnut as far as I know.

Sawed in MO or Southern IA, kiln dried and made into lams!
Stay sharp, Kenny.

A couple months ago I glued up a nice bow with bamboo core and some spalted maple on the belly with some spliced walnut and spalted maple on the back. When I took it out of the oven I saw a huge mistake I had made during glue up. I had the belly taper reversed! It was thin at the riser and thick at the nock. I was beyond frustrated and set the bow on the mistake pile. And tried to move on...today I was impatiently waiting for an order of glass to come in and decided to see what I could do with the messed up bow. After about 4 hours of work amazingly i have the bow bending right on the money! I tested out a theory which invovled a combination of leaving one limb wider than the other and narrowing the other limb along with some aggressive rounding of limb edges at appropriate places and BAM! I lost about 12 lbs in the process...so this bow is shooting 43 lbs.

This is my son taking a few test shots for me while I got some full draw pics. It is not complete by a long shot but i am thrilled to save this one!

Good save.  It looks like it's in good tiller.

I guarantee you won't make that mistake again.

I had a couple of apprentices in the shop last night. One working on an Osage and one working on an elm. Both first timers. We ended the night shooting the elm for the first time. Thata a good feeling. I had cocktails and supervised. Lol

Pulled a figured canary wood bow out of the oven today. I am seldom this impressed by a piece of wood. Too bad a picture hardly does justice....

Josh, Ole papa smerf would not last 5 minutes in my shop. I don't have enough yeller wood, I have too much glass, and that keg in corner was not filled with berry beer!
