Smoked three racks of pork spare ribs...and 18 wings on my smoker/cooker using hardwood lump charcoal and some oak off the firewood pile.

then after it settled I took a dozen 23/64 douglas fir shafts and put the nock end on them...and then stained them with NATURAL MinWax sealant and protectant...they will be drying overnight.

Might put second coat on tomorrow if this soaks in through wood....then ordered some OneStringer arrow wraps based on one of three cresting/capping patterns I have used the past 20 years.  Never used before but hoping for best...might try their reflective ones next.

Finished making my Flemish Splice Jig out of a 1X4. Finally got around to making my first flemish spliced string today! Turned out great!

Took a little work figuring out the direction of twists to keep it from unraveling on me when I put it under tension, and I got it figured out. Also made some homemade bow string wax, took some beeswax I use as a flux when I make my own fishing sinkers and jig heads and melted it down with some vegetable oil (got the idea from Volkmar Hübschmann in his book "Bow Accessories") and it turned out perfect!

Afterwards I twisting it to fit my laminated longbow (64" bow twisted it to 60" so it will stretch to about 61") and checked my brace I am at 7 1/2" perfect! served it up and put a knock point on it, and shot a few arrows from it. Got a little vibration in the string, but that can be remedied by adding a wool silencer like I did for my endless string. So now I have a back-up string for my longbow     :knothead:      :banghead:   I can either cut the riser deeper and level it out, maybe if it will hold glue a piece of wood into it and pray she'll hold, or cut off the riser and glue another one on. What do you guys think? Like I said i'll post more pictures tomorrow to give you a better idea of what i'm talking about.

Great job on your first string.
You need a rasp or a Nicholson 49 or 50 to work in those areas.
I use drum sanders.

Thanks, is this savable? Should I just cut and level out the riser from the top to the end of this or glue on another one?

Visited my buddy Udo in Basel and tested my latest creation the Bertinator. Haven't measured the speed yet, but  this baby is fast. And when Udo shoots it with his 30 inches draw length it's a bloody rocket launcher...

Did a little splitting;

This log turned out to be one of those that splits straight an easy.

Real clean halves;

Starting the first core split;

I use the wedges left over from cutting splices  to split off cores.

Popped the core off nice and straight.

Finished up with 9 good staves and one billet core split.

Eric those look nice.

Randy, wouldn't hurt to try to work it out. You could always revalue more handle wood if needed.

What's the stats on it? I recently did a 66'' kennym as well. It went 55# at 28'' no powerlams just 3 tapers and a parallel but put a 450g carbon through the chrono at 192fps using vanes not feathers which would have caused  a bit of drag I reckon.

Robertfishes

bigbob2, .356 total stack measured with out power lam, 19 1/2" riser cut 1/8" past center, 26" powerlam (040 at end of fades), core is all actionboo 003/inch total taper,040 glass, 42#s @ 28".

bigbob2

Nice bow.Mine was .320 'boo plus the .080 for the two glass. Nice design aren't they?
