Kenny - That's another great looking bow and there's nothing ever "plain" when bacote is used.

I'm chomping at the bit for it to warm up a bit to go out and shoot the bow I just received in this year's swap.  Weather channel says -9F wind chill right now.  I guess I'm becoming more of a sissy as I get older.

Lol you may be right Dave. Oh...yeah I guess someone did. Although to be fair, at the time they were offered, I was fine.
If you're gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough.

Charlie, maybe they offer senior citizen discounts? LOL

razorback

Just scraped some more off the little hickory I am working on. Put it on the caul to put some even reflex into it and straighten it out a bit.
Couple of questions for you guys,

1. When I heated up this stave, which I believe is well dried, moisture began to hiss out one end of the bow. Is this bad or did it just pick up some moisture that I need to let escape before tillering any more.
2. When do you guys toast the bellies of your hickory bows.
3. I plan to flip the tips a little, when should I do this in the process.

Bow is at floor tiller at the moment, 62" ttt, a little under 1 1/2" wide and because of the shape of the split has a rounded profile.
Any comments or questions welcomed.

Razorback, I'd guess it to be bad if moisture is bubbling from the end of the stave as you apply heat. It would seem to be too wet to me. Just my .02 worth.

Kenny, you and Roy are like brothers seperated at birth and sent to live in different states. Like the movie Twins.     :goldtooth:

I just can't decide who more resembles Danny DeVito.    :dunno:

Nice bow though. Very nice.
