Took my hackberry bow out for a few last days of deer season and scored.

Keenan, I was splitting firewood, bud.

Saved a six foot section of the post oak trunk to split for staves.

Today I got 4 staves out of the best side of the trunk. Two of those need to be split again to give me a total of 6 post oak staves.

Haven't heard of anyone making a bow from post oak. I hope these will be usable. The grain appears straight.  The growth rings are tight. The staves were quite wet. I expect it'll take a while to dry these out.

David, congratulations! I like you hunting camo, I am thinking about going old school wool this year.

Today I learned that when chasing a ring on a stave that has very thing ring's stop at the ring above the one you want and scrape the rest of the way.  Went through 3 rings trying to get one unviolated.  Lesson learned.

I shot a mid 60#'s static recurve I just tillered. Im wondering if I need to trim 3-4#'s off it. Its a stoudt one right from the start of the draw. The sound the string gives off when I snap an arrow on scares dogs away.....

Roy from Pa

I made cedar arrows and worked on Pearly Boys BBO.

That looks tasty Eric! Worked on my tillering tree so that is ready to go. Also going slow on removing wood from my rawhide backed red oak board bow for PA trade...
