Well now you should be pumping out 20 or  30 bows a week at that pace.  :)

Swissbow

Cut down the caffine sounds like a good idea to me, but then again I might need like three days to recover...

This is what the first one looks like...

In the meantime I have also glued the overlay and the tips.

The second one is glued up and the limbs are roughed out. By the way this one is my trade bow for this year.

Today I finished sanding the two board bows my classes had been working on off and on all year. Got a coat of tru-oil on both. They're hanging in the utility room drying now. Finished up with sanding my trade bow for *****. It is hanging in the laundry room with its first coat of tru-oil.
After putting the 1st coats of tru-oil on the bows, I worked on straightening some river cane. This was the second round with heat. I got four sanded before I gave out for the day.

I took this off the board it was drying on and just landed it on my trad bow to see if it would be long enough.

I didn't get any bow work in today, but with good reason. I spent a few hours teaching my neice how to do a relief carving for her art class. My trade bow is all but ready and I'm finishing up a little extra that I'll be sending along with it.
Makin' wood chips.

When I get better at bow building I'll be teaching her to build one for herself.

I put a few coats of black dye on the black walnut bow I'm finishing. Hopefully I will have it sanded and a few coats of finish this week.

Applied second coats of tru-oil on our project bows and my trade bow.
Glued hardwood dowels into the ends of my river cane shafts. Looks like I'll get maybe 6-8 shafts out of 2 dozen canes.

DVSHUNTER

Heading out to the shop to laquer arrows!   I can't let Roy have all the fun.

Dave,

Was that black dye made for getting the grey out of your beard? Looks good whatever it was.

I glued up one BBO with wood I pulled out of my friend George's scrap wood burn pile. Glued up another with one limb made out of more burn pile osage and the other made out of a piece of wood that had been in my shop so long it's history had faded into the distant past. Both glue-ups came out well.

I finished up glueing some hardwood dowels into the nock ends of my river cane shafts. I may have saved most of the shafts by cutting them off an inch, or so. Now I'm scraping off the rind, sanding them smooth and working on the nodes.

While working on the river canes, I let my trade bow and two red oak board bows dry after the most recent finish coats.

DVSHUNTER

I helped out an apprentice with his first selfbow. We heated it and got it down to floor tiller today. Then i skinned my trade bow and the black walnut I'm messing with. Then i put in string nocks and started tillering an osage bow I'm working on. And i let worked on my tan some more. These are the same two.bows as before. Temper fidelis has almost caught up with the older bow.

I drew two names for the science project bows my students worked on this year. The recipients were two eigth grade boys. One bow was a 28" draw and the other was 26". I'll post pics of some of the actual work/progress and the winners Tuesday.
