Brian, thanks for taking us along.  Looks like you guys had a fun time.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll have some pictures of my own to post.......hopefully.

Overspined

My boy told me today that we don't shoot in the rain, and it's too cold...oh well.  You had better luck Brian!  Made a couple strings though, one for the Shrewhill and one for the Whisper.

Nice photos, everyone! Nice bow Ross. I think plaid beats this in pink!

Kyle, glad to hear its coming together for you. Curves seem easier to shoot at first, but for hunting I always pick up a longbow. With some work in practice they are amazing to hunt with. I know there are those very talented archers that can kick butt in target archery too.  I noticed a lot of them don't compete though. It would be nice if they would take on the curve competitors.   I saw one crush even compound shooters.  You don't see that every day. He won the $ prize. Very humble guy.

Thanks everyone. We did have a blast today. Pat i hope you all can get out.

Nice pictures fellas. Takes me back when my boys and I did a lot of stumping, they where about that size. Now they're 27 and 29 and I don't see them much. Enjoy your time with those youngsters!

When you guys talk about 3 under being louder than split are you comparing bows tillered for 3 under?  I have Hill bows tillered both ways and when shot as designed, either 3U or split, there is no difference in sound or arrow flight.  I bring this up as the vast majority of bows are tillered for split so in most cases it's not a fair comparison.

Yes sir.  Tiller can make a difference.

David Yukon: I'm sure you will like your NM Classic. It's a great bow.

BCWV: Have any critters fallen to your new Shelton? Sure wish I had something to hunt around here this time of year.

Chuck,

Sad to say but no, I haven't been able to draw it on fur yet. I plan on making another run or two on deer before our season ends but they're pretty scarce around here this year. I may have to wait till April and break her in on FL hogs!
I'm having a ball shooting it though, it's a sweetheart.

Brad,

It's great that you have those options. Good hunting!

It is a Wesley Special I got in a trade from a fellow TG'er. 66" 53@28.

The hawk is just a generic inexpensive model.

The deer were elusive.

Two4,

Thanks for the specs, they are right in My range, so you can just send it this way!!! J/j .

You guys are killing me with your stumping and hunting thru nice, dry, leafy woods! Today, it warmed up to -12, so I was able to get out and shoot for about 10 mins. at a time before my string fingers started to get cold.

I'm willing to put up with it, though. I want to shoot as much as possible at home. Costs too much in gas and range fees to shoot indoors, taking away money that I could otherwise use to buy more archery gear. As long as there isn't a breeze, I can tolerate the cold long enough to get my daily shooting fix!

I hear ya! I haven't seen a day in the woods above freezing in the last 5 weeks - gets very cold in the stand.

... And then I fantasize about chasing elk somewhere in the warm southwest or hogs in the warm southeast and realize the Hill Gang Hog Hunt is rapidly approaching! :-)

Yup: split, 3u, 2u all should be tillered a bit differently.  Talked at length with Nate about it and Bob Burton gave me a demonstration on a 5# bow.  You change your finger pressure and the bow responds different.  On a 5# bow, the visualization is quite dramatic.  My Tembo was sent back to Craig and he tillered for 3u.  Seems louder with split if anything.  Definitely not louder 3u.
