That's cool David. My 70" Redman started from a blanket sale at Comptons this last year and that's when I met you just after my purchase. You said I would enjoy it and I've been shooting it most everyday since.

I am currently shooting a Bama Hunter but would like to have a more traditionl Hill style bow with narrow, deep cored limbs.

Grateful, if you could answer some questions.

1) Using the Hill style of shooting my draw length is 27". Would I be best served with a 66", 68" or 70" n-t-n longbow? I would like as much cast without compromising on stability.

2) I would like to give the straight wedge / teardrop shaped grip a try. Could someone who uses one post pictures showing how the bow is to be gripped. Pics from the rear three-quarters, finger tip side and front would really be appreciated.

3) If the strike plate was 1/4" before centre would it make the bow excessively fussy in terms of dynamic arrow spine?

Wow, Basil_K, you really do want one bad! :D My experience is that when you want a bow pretty badly, you usually find one!

Mine are all for sale at a steal of a price of cost + 20% ! LOL

For a while I was buying and trading bows quite often, mostly used, but then after living with them for a period I really started to figure out what I prefer, and started growing attached to the ones I settled in on. Now I buy and sell occasionally, but only bows that aren't firmly in my stable and about 1 at a time. I still like experimenting and shooting different styles of longbows. At one point I had as many as 8 or 9 Hill style bows, and shaved it down to 4 that have more function and meaning to me...now it takes me 2 seconds to know if I like a bow.

I'd take the Tembo and the $50 over the Wesley, more Boo, less glue. The Redman is another story, tough decision there. My next bow will be all Yew.

I reread this again and realize that while Ron said it concerning longbowmen in a resurging longbow awareness, we have that same awareness among the traditional archery ranks today. A very timeless quote. Thanks for posting it.

Anyone here have any experience with the large take-down sleeve. I want an idea of the approximate circumference/thickness the grip on one would be.

I'm looking to order an 82# bow and want to know if I could get a proper grip on the bow.
