Tony, who made that beautiful quiver?

Yes he does Eric.  Really happy with them.  The pics do not do justice to the quality..

Dave, I got that quiver from Art Vincent about seven years ago. It is his standard "hunter" model.  All I need to do now is to dedicate some time to get used to it.  BTW, I really liked the article you did on the back quiver a while back.

Gents,

What is the centre cut on a bow from HHA? Craig advised me it was about 1/8th but just eyeballing it I can't help but feel its more. Don't have a set of calipers to hand so any insight appreciated.

Mine is about 1/4" outside center with the leather side plate.  I have a big five.

Rossco,
There is a diagram on Stu Millers calc spreadsheet (separate page) the shows one method of determining your centershot.

My Half Breed 1/4" plus the strike.

My new "Wapiti" came in today! Here are my first three shots. I'm loving it!

I also got a HH quiver and glove. Quiver is awesome. Anyone use these gloves? I usually use a Damascus and this HH makes me feel like I have gorilla fingers. When I pull the string I kinda feel like it's gonna slip. Is this something I'll get used to, or will it get better feeling once the glove is broken in?

Nate Steen .

Ben...break the glove in by bending the stalls where your first joint is.  The string will settle into this bend when you grip it and draw with the bow.  The stiff feeling is something you get used to.  Imho there is no smoother...quicker release than using a glove with stiff inserts

If everything goes according to plan this should be a pic of my new Cheetah and back quiver. The bow shoots like a dream, is 54@26 and has a wine colored wrap with ebony riser.

Hope everyone enjoys (and this upload attempt works). lol
I love that combination of colors. Very nice!

OK, will do. I know one thing, and that is my old damascus is too thin. It gets "caught" on my string way too often. This HH glove really does feel like it has a smooth release, just not used to the thickness! I'll try what you suggest. Thanks for the pointer.  :)

I loved my bateman glove it had the inserts. Made with cordovan. I cut the tips off. To get abetter anchor.the hhill is the standard and not made w cordovan wwont last as long however the hhill is still a great glove..anybody shoot 3 under w a glove?

Ben, this post by Jerry Hill might help with the glove.    Shooting glove like Howard Hill & Jerry Hill

The Bateman glove is great, it has stiffer inserts and more open fingers than the Hill and the design allows you to adjust the length easily.

Can someone tell me what the length on a Hill bow strung from tip to tip on a 66" model? I'm trying to figure out if I will have enough room to shoot it out of my Pop-up ground blind.

I didn't know if a 66" Hill was measured before it was strung or after.

Thanks for the help,
David

That`s an interesting point. I asked Craig about this via Email and he replied that HHA bows are 1/8th cut from center. Ross, I have the same feeling, when judging from pics (wich is not very exact).
My Jerry Hill for example is very thin at the shelf - not cut on center, but I would say it`s 1/8th to center. HHA bows are not cut in that deep from what I saw on pics (never held one in my hand so far). I shoot relatively stiff arrows out of my Jerry Hill (B50 string) beeing 57@30. Spine is around 70lbs, cut to 30.5 inch BOP and 125grs points give me a good arrow flight with my woodies.
Question: would these arrows work on a HHA with around the same draw weight? Thanks for any input.

That Wapiti is sweet looking Ben!

Thanks to those who provided info on the centre cut yesterday.

I used a set of calipers on my Tembo and it was indeed a couple thousands over an 1/8", not much to worry with, But when I counted in the width of plate leather it was right at 3/16" before center.

WESTBROOK

Ben, great rig you got there! Got a pic of that new quiver?

Those HH gloves take a while to break in, they will never hook the string like your softer glove, but dont need to. They feel big and clumsy and take a little getting use to but they work well.
