Chris-

B50 is going to have a little more vibration in your hand. FF will be faster, but I've heard even though it's not noisy to humans, the noise is noticable to animals.

I like B-50, it works for me.

Anyone has a contact for Jerry Hill? I sent him 2 emails to his AOL email and never received a response.

Longbows & Short Shots

WESTBROOK

I like FF, I do put a couple golf ball size wool yarn puffs right up by the string splice. Dead quiet. Shot a couple with B50, its not for me.

I'm calling Steve Turay monday to order me a new NM Classic, one of those green beauties with a handle that fits my big mitt.

If anyones looking, I have a nice LH 50# Classic in the classifieds.

Chris,

Aussie Stickbow Hunter, builds his own "Hill" bows and has shot a ton of critters.  I recently asked about his bowstring.  He used to shoot B-50 only, but has switched to 12 strand D-97 with padded loops, no silencers.  He told me he shoots 60# bows @ 26.5 draw.  Might try that, I have been pondering getting Chad at Champion Bowstrings to tie me one to try.

I use Xcel material and make 10 or 12 strand padded loop strings. It has much the same feel as B50 but much stronger, lighter, thinner, less stretch, and every bit as quiet. I think if you guys who like B50 tried the Xcel you just might get hooked!!

Is Xcel made by BCY or Brownell?

Im a B 50 user and always have been, im a creature of habit, and its always worked well for me. Im not one for changing something that works for me. Im kind of set in my ways, and if it aint broke, dont fix it

Thank you so much for posting this  :archer:

I strung up my 76# Big 5 and took some  form shots in the basement while following these direction as best I could and my arrows were in groups about the size of a quarter every time

For six months before a hunt, I will pick up many a bow and fondle it, even caress it's slender sexy limbs—but I won't draw a different bow than the one I hunt. That rule's carved deep, deep in stone.

Train with one bow, know the goal, and the arrow will know where to go. . .

I'm glad you posted this Rik...my feeling is that there are too many "things" that differ from one bow to another and, at least for me, I want to eliminate any and all possibility of short-circuiting the physical and mental nuances that are connected with the shot.  I can pick up most any bow and shoot okay but in that magic moment I need not be thinking..or feeling...or compensating. Just letting it happen as an extension of my will.

I will soon have that "one"....her name is Morning Sun....the others, as nice as they may be will stand in a corner as I become intimately familiar with her.

"Morning Sun."

Not bad. Not bad at all.

Okay, I'm waiting to see who will have the first post on page 500 of this thread.

Dragon, buddy you don't want to know about that "morning sun" thingy. I am curious about your left hand shooting situation. i switch back and forth all the time. It takes a lot of longbows to have matching sets of different lengths and different weights for both hands and don't even get me started on the left and right wing arrows and left and right wing broadheads and left and right hand quivers and shooting gloves and arm guards. It may be a blessing if you cannot switch hit. Dang I'm not on the next page.

Nate Steen .

Jeff...don't go back on b50..... although a 24 strand ff does shoot nice and quiet.

Morning sun?
