I have also seen variations in the over all shape of some Hills and wondered why it was, myself. I guess the big question would be, does the shape of the bow in question seem to affect how it shoots and if so what would that be?

GRS

OK, I waited all day for someone to call dibbs on the OBVIOUS. Since no one did, I'll speak up. If I can tie myself to one of RC's belt loops, then I'm in!!! That would probably be the best way possible to see hogs. Seriously, if this develops, I am interested.

Guys we are going to have a, "Hill Tradgang hunt"

I've enjoyed talking to everyone on the phone and through pm's. I did receive a couple emails because my pm box was filled, it's clear now until I get another 60.

Again, the date that looks like it fits into everyone's schedule is 2/22, 2/23, 2/24.

I'm still waiting for Tarponnut to get back with me to see if he can accommodate all of us on his lease.

If we hunt Chickasawhatchee WMA, 19,700 acres, the cost would be $93.00 for the license.

**If you already decide on Chickasawhatchee WMA, 19,700 acres to hunt, pm me and I'll write it down and keep track.**

One thing about the wma hunt. You can come back next year or actually anytime under a year just for the price of the trip because the lic run year to date.
I also thank Darren for putting this together and hope I can meet him as well as you other guys .I would like to see this thing come together and maybe Darren would make it an annual thing.RC

Gerald-

Will probably have to breakup in groups, so your welcome to hunt with RC.

We're going to have to get some maps of the area and setup our GPS's. RC will be very helpful with our navigation.

Rik's question sort of got lost in the hunt plans--back to the talk about Hill bows--does anybody else find the difference in width of Hill bows that he mentioned?  My older model Tembo built when John Schulz was the bowyer is quite a bit wider than my newer Hills. My Wesley and Redman are the same width.
My Schulz and Miller are wider and thinner cored than my Hills and the belcher is somewhere in between ... my orignal Belcher is deeper cored , my newer take down is wider limbed ...

Next year?   I'm in.....

I think we need to keep this thread strictly hill bows..techniques...and paraphanalia......let's move the hill hunt to it's own thread... :)

tradlongbow

Nate-

I thought if we move the thread it would get lost. The date seems firm, we need to decide on public land or the lease.

Nate do you really mean Hill bows or does that include Hill style bows?

I would vote to go with RC.. he's proven to me that he knows what it takes to kill stuff.

Darren,

When the hunt gets closer we could create a thread in the gatherings/events section.

Rik,
My Big Five is 1 1/8th heavy at the fadeouts, while my Tembo is 1 1/16th. However, the tips on the Big Five are narrower.

I`d like to join you guys for my FIRST hunt with bow and arrow next year in Georgia.   :campfire:
Are there any limitations or other things to consider for non-US residents participating in such an event? I mean apart from the shooting test on this 9" spot..... or the usual "First-timer introductory rituals"......   :biglaugh:

I like that idea. Guys start working overtime, do a car wash, sell candy to your neighbors, what ever it takes to be there.

I soon as I hear from tarponnut if the can accomdate all of us I'll let you know. Then we can decide public or private land.

RC call me or I'll call you after 1pm

I agree on a thread later as we progress and I think next year gives everyone time to plan for more than a couple of days.
This is Darrens hunt and I like everyone else will attend God Willing. I will try to scout the chosen place in advance to be able to point folks in a good direction.
No shooting test on WMA`s by the way only fort stewart .
Rossco thats a Big five with a center lam of yew and carmilized boo limbs. Its a killer.RC

This sounds like a whole lot of pure fun. If there is room for one more please count me in.  I've been to Texas a couple of times for hogs and javelinas and had a blast!  Great game for the stick and string.

Rik, both my Redman and Wesley are 1 1/16" wide at the fades.  My Schulz built Tembo is 1 1/4" wide.  But...different bowyers.
The years accumulate on old friendships like tree rings, during which time a kind of unspoken care and loyalty accrue between men.
