Well we met with the oncologist today and I can't say I am happy with his report and plan of attack. He wants me to take the next month to heal from the surgery plus take an iron injection each week for the next 3 weeks. Then meet with him the next week and be admitted to the hospital for 4-5 days of chemo then off 3 weeks then back in the hospital for another 4-5 days of chemo. This continues for 6 cycles and approximately 6 months. We were overwhelmed at this and really couldn't come up with questions until later. So we are checking with his head nurse for a better explanation and why does the chemo have to be done in the hospital. We will also be getting a second opinion as this treatment program appears pretty extreme.
I already know there is no cure for this other than God's grace. As always your prayers are sorely needed and appreciated.

You're in my prayers.

I've been in remission for 18 months from Stage 4 Hodgkin's Disease which isn't as serious as what you appear to have.  However, if you'd like to hear about my experience or vent a little, drop me an email.

Prayers for you.  Ask all that you care to, it is your right to know what is going on and why this plan of treatment is being advised.  God Bless.

E-mailed a list and requests to the Dr's head nurse who reply with some answers and set up another appointment with the Dr. for Monday so we can try to get more detailed info.

We had a good meeting with the oncologist and got a lot of questions answered. It looks like the treatment is a sarcoma board decision and this is the only treatment available. I did find out that it isn't as horrible as it appeared. The hospital stay is to have a hydration drip going to keep the kidneys and bladder flushed. Typical reactions are nausea and fatigue but are controllable. He said there was a trial going on that I might be able to get into if they can get a good measurement from the ct scan. But in the trial you may get one drug or two so it appears to be the luck of the draw on that one. I'm not willing to do that for something that might be slightly better. The Dr said it isn't essential to get started right away and if I have to work a few months to get funds and time built up it should be OK. We will have a better idea on that once the ct scan is done.
Started back to work today so I'll see how well I hold up. I am thankful for how well I feel now thanks again for the prayers!
