Our own Wade Phillips was awarded the Bowhunter of the Year award from the Nebraska Bowhunters Association this last weekend. Let's all congratulate him.
Standing with Wade is Dick Mauch, who was inducted into Nebraska Archery & Bowhunters Hall of Fame.    Hink

Thank you to everyone for the many kind words. I am certainly not deserving of this award and undoubtedly, my name got on the ballot by mistake. I know several long time bowhunters who are far more qualified than myself to receive this award. I'm sure that any electors who saw my name on a ballot thought they were voting for the NFL football coach who has my same first and last name. I was hoping that all of this award stuff would somehow be a secret kept within the borders of Nebraska, but my "Friends" have conspired against me to keep that secret. Bill, Ken & Craig, you guys are on my LIST !!!

Dick & Carol Mauch drove more than 6 hours out of their way just to give me that award. It was truly an honor to receive such an award from Dick who has been a dear friend, gracious host, hunting camp companion, and mentor. Dick is truly Nebraska's Greatest Archery Treasure. The only other award that I have ever received in my life, was several years ago for being Nebraska's Champion Bow & Arrow Deer-Misser, a title that I apparently still hold to this day. Anyone who knows me even casually, knows that I have never been accused of being a good shot, and the few critters that I have tagged over the years have simply had the misfortune to step in front of one of my normally misdirected arrows that were generally intended for something in the next county.

Sorry to be so absent the past several weeks, but now that winter banquet and show season is coming to an end, hopefully there will be some time to spend here.

Well deserved recognition Wade! I can't think of anyone more dedicated to archery and bowhunting anywhere. It has been an honor and a privilege getting to know you over the years. No one else has enjoyed my bear stew as much as you... thanks for being a true gentleman and friend.
I was born with nothing and I still have most of it left.
