Good job on the pig! Those quivers are very fine pieces of art.

Just your comment on arteries sounds medicy to me.

Good deal on the pork!! I need to go somewhere for one as it has been awhile since I had wild pork.

congrats Pat,  glad to see the Schafer is still killing pigs.  Quiver looks great.

Possum Head

Glad you found him! Can pork make it overnight in the summer without spoiling? Or is it guess work?

pdk25

Thanks everyone.

Possum Head, there are too many variables.   Where exactly it's hit, how long till the hog expires, as well as what it expires from, and them how cold it gets, and how long it takes to cool down.  This was pretty good conditions for summer, with night temps already in the 60's, and only shot around 11pm.  No funny smell, or even strong boar smell o. This one.  It has been soaking in,salted ice water since yestedday morning and will get drained and reflex tomorrow, then put up n sunday.  I am very confident that this will be a good tasting hog.
