Ron, beautiful bow from David. If that is some of the yew that I think it is, it is more special than most know!   :)

Rossco7002

Wow Ron! That is amazing! I have been going back and forth about ordering another bow from David - either a Hawk or a yew Old Tom and that bow of yours sure throws some fuel on the fire!

Well, conditions are not right for our Bdub trip and my back tells me that I should not be lugging heavy packs right now, so, we're going on a road trip to see a Tradgang sponcer. I hope the storms don't kick my butt. This will be different and probably the most expensive way to order a new bow possible.

Knawbone

Ron, I guess WOW! That bows exactly the right combo I would order. The spects are exactly right also. 48 @ 26 is perfect. Beautiful bow, just georgeous. Big congrats and God bless.

Thanks for all your replies, I picked the Yew with brown glass because David said that was the combo John Schulz was shooting in his film hitting them like Howard Hill. Also I have a yew and bamboo made by David that was really a smooth shooter so I thought why not a Yew with brown glass. The special piece of highly figured Mrytle contrasted nicely with the yew and brown glass. David is a real artist. Ron.

I don't like the look of fancy veneers under clear glass on Hill style bows. I don't know why, because I love the looks of highly figured, curly, burly veneers on recurves and R/D longbows. For a glassed Hill style I think yew or 'boo under brown glass back and belly is "The" look.

Goshawkin

Hey Green, Nice bow and I hope both "second chances" work out for you.

Green

Thanks Nick.  Grip's pretty small so I sent Craig an email about that, but the performance and smoothness is just what I'm looking for.

Does anyone think that THe Northern Mist Shelton are slower than most Longbows out there?

The road to "Sherwood" makes for an awesome journey.

Gave my NM Classic a workout today, and took this photo for the large backstop topic:

It was the Misty Dawn's turn last night.

Sure wish I could shoot more than 50 arrows before getting tired!

What a great wood combo for the handle riser and limbs Green!  I like that contrast!

Enjoy!

My Shelton may be quicker pound for pound that other Hill style bows, but I've not chrono'd it..

It does appear to shoot an arrow quickly for it's weight !

WESTBROOK

My Sheltons have always been pleasingly quick for a straight limbed bow. It may be a hair slower than the backset Classic but it makes it up in sweetness.

In an earlier discussion I mentioned that I don't really shoot with the "Hill style". I found these videos from a few years ago of my form.

I will say she is sweet, and one of the few Hill style bows work well for me. I guess speed isn't that big of a deal but it and arrow weight give you kinetic energy=penetration.
