Nice pick-up Butch.  Cocobolo is a gorgeous riser wood.  I'm sure you'll like it.  How much are you going up in draw weight?

Nice Bgi 5! I went from 46 to 54 to 68 lbs draw on my Hill bows within 6 months and experienced no negatives at all - it did force me to really use my back when I draw but now the 68er feels perfect!

What I love about the heavier draw weight is I can shoot a 570gr arrow which comes in at 8.5 gpp so the trajectory is super flat and the arrow hard hitting.

I just talked to Steve at Northern Mist, and he told me that the way he weight is bows is a little different... He uses a small block of wood on the hook of his bow scale that mimic the 3 fingers on the string, and he say that that way it is more accurate of the actual draw weight you would get wile drawing  the bow your self... He said he doesn't know of any one drawing with one finger;) So when you use just the hook of the scale on the string you get about 3# lighter than what he marked on the bow. make sense to me!
Cheers

Mike,
My other bows are 54 to 56 lbs. I was shooting a reverse handle 62 lb. with Mudd last year. Didn't seem to bother me. I'll just work at it slowly. Sure am looking forward to getting it.

Speaking of Northern Mist. What kind of wait time are you talking with a new order from Steve?

Mudd

Butch I am looking forward to getting a chance to shoot your "new-to-you" Big Five.

It has all the looks of a "shooter".

Congratulations!

When I sell my yew, my yew/bamboo and my Schulz I will officially no longer be a Hill bow shooter, but I am going to check out that bow in the classifieds.

Vesty,

I believe a new bow is about a 9 month wait for Steve.  However, it is always good to call him.  Often he has bows in stock not on his website ... so it is possible he may have what you are looking for right now.

Good luck.

Khardunner, I have a 26" draw, my fingers do not like me much when I shoot right handed a lot, so I am shooting mostly left handed.  When I shoot bows that are heavier my release fingers develop problems. I do not have the energy or the resources to try to put together a collection of bows like I have except at that 50 pound range, so I am going to use only my Robertsons full time, until they break or wear out.  I have gone from 18 Hill style bows down to the last three and I have decided that they are not doing me any good if I cannot shoot them without asking for the stiff fingers that follow. I like it when I can give a shooting lesson when I sell a bow to someone, that way they know what the bow can do and I know that the bow will work for them.  I sold three in one day doing just that, it was fun.

I understand. I'm glad you can still shoot

Made some turkey hunting arrows and some target arrows...decided to do a little black.   I thought it would look more grey....  Oh well.  I started cresting arrows last year, it's fun to play with.

I have yet to kill a turkey...or get a good shot with NO tent blind and a Hill longbow and I'm planning on changing that this spring.

PAVAN,

Why not just sell a bow or two and get a lighter used Hill style bow??  I know the bows you have are difficult or impossible to replace exactly, but you should be able to get close.

Someone has to be out there representing....and turning in the poachers!

Wow! Nice looking arrows. Wish my three kids afforded me the time to just settle down and create some just like that....
