Well everyone.  After shooting a lot of different American Semi-Longbows, I think I can say I have found my "Brand"  or bower as you would say.  As far as all around shooting qualities, and what fits ME I have settled on C&N Archery out of Montana.  Craig (at C&N) is 65 so I don't know how much longer he will be making bows, so I am going to be putting in another order soon. Plus his prices are amazing and turn around time is usually 3-6 weeks.  I still need to get my hands on a Sunset Hill sometime to try.

I guess my reason for the post was just to say it sure is fun trying different bowers and bows out until you find the one that clicks for you.

Oh I never left, my heart lies with the straight stick, but man sometimes those models are just so pretty!!!! Alas, the cornbread is always better at home.  By the way Nick, I finally  got a HH Wesely special, what a great shooter.  I traded it for the Toelke you saw.  I think its C&N from here on out.

Does C&N have a website? Isn't it nice when you find a make of bow that you really "works" for you?

Brianlocal3

No, no website.  He relies on word of mouth only, he doesn't even advertise anymore.  I lucked into one of his bows, and found his number so I called him and started talking to him about his bows and hunting and whatnot.

Okay Brian, lets not be selfish.  We need photos and phone number for C&N please.

I was covered up in deer this afternoon and would have harvested my first 'Hill style' doe if only for an errant twig deflecting my arrow just before the vitals. 10 yards and on the ground when it happened, what a rush!

Looks like my Half Breed has every bit the mojo that my Schulz brought with it at the start of the season.

PS - Pics Brian!!! Lol

HHA is 1" at riser, C&N is 1 1/8" at riser.  both 1/2" Deep cores.   Craig at C&N prefers Red Elm core and So do I so thats what it is.  If you have not shot a Red elm cored LB, I ask you to shoot 2 arrows from a Red Elm core and two from a  Boo core.  Make your decision from there, but for me there is no finer bow than a bow with red elm cores.  All his bows are 5 lam

I too am quite partial to red elm as a core wood.  Great performer.
The years accumulate on old friendships like tree rings, during which time a kind of unspoken care and loyalty accrue between men.

Crossed Arrows

Nice looking bow.  Many thanks for the photos.
