That is the Bateman. The release is quite quick, you definitely want to be pointing the bow in a safe direction when you first draw with one of these.......

Thanks Ron, I keep seeing comments on how deep the older Hills were but no real stats to back them up. I plan on trying 2 1/4" - 2 3/8" deep on my first hill style builds. Both of my northern mists are 2 1/8" deep but it feels like there could be just a little more depth to fill the hand.

That is the lined w/inserts model. Good up to any bow weight that can be shot off the fingers.
6" feathers will make up for variations in spine.

The Autumn Legend arrows have a 5 3/4" feather and the burn is copied from one of Howards original arrows.

I had the same problem with my Elk Big Shot...it became a bit too soft and it was difficult to get a clean release.

I bought a Crossover. It is perfect out of the package - not too stiff but stiff enough to minimize the finger groove set.

John Turner of American Leathers made me another crossover with inserts 30% thicker/wider. Now that I have had a few weeks to break it in, it gives a marginally better release than the original crossover. The "custom" work cost me ten bucks more. Worth every penny.

I am holding in the low 50s and neither glove is too much.

This one is 64@26" by Schulz. Real flat shooter. I've only built self bows to date but they led me to Hill style bows and I plan on trying my hand at building them very soon.

Ron- that dog is always hunting something. Hunter is a 10 yr old GSP, best dog I've ever had.

I'd like to say I always shoot like this but it was the norm today. Since I got this bow my accuracy has been the best its ever been. Now I need a buck to walk in front of me.

lexol leather treatment on the Hill gloves does wonders. I couldn't get my fingers to the end of the stalls at first. Took a while but they broke in and they seat perfectly. I use pine tar from the athletic store. It comes in a twist up stick keeps the stalls in place and is not messy mine is from Adidas.

Man LOOK at that Tembo nothin' prettier! The first longbow I ever shot was a Shultz. It was too heavy for me but I was smitten and have been ever since.

SportHunter that is definitely a list of details.

I sometimes wish I could be a detail oriented soul but alas it's not gonna happen at this late stage of my life.

There just aren't enough pressures that can be applied to make me get motivated to gather and type all of that stuff...lol

Mine are pretty bows that shoot great... all I need to know or care to know.

I'm sorry if that sounds like a bad attitude, it's the one I'm stuck with.

It's awesome that some of you enjoy the details.

My buddy Tony is a great guy who just loves details. He's got that engineers mind going for him..lol

I love reading all these posts on Hill bows. I have been shooting a lot this summer and play with all my bows. I still keep comming back to my Shrew Hill however. I cannot explain it, she is very plain looking. There is nothing flashy or fancy about her at all, it does not even have a performance string. It is not the fastest bow I own. I just NEED to shoot it. It feels so natural to me. That slim easy pulling bow some how has a connection with something deep inside me. I feel so content shooting her.
