Joebuck... with your skills I'll bet that bow(s) will be knock out beautiful. I think it goes without saying that we'll need pics... of course I had to say it.

As a boy I had no contact with other archers, so I took all my information from Hill's "Hunting the Hard Way", so I put my arrow nock above the nocking point.

As time went on I tried nocking below, but noticed that I had a tendency to  put pressure on the top of the nock with my pointer finger which could force the nock to be lower before leaving the string and thus be out of tune.

I switched back immediately and have been there ever since.

These days I still prefer the nock of my arrow  above the nocking point locating bump, but also double serve above the nock for a little extra insurance.

I can still easily find the bump for "no look" nocking by feel, yet the arrow stays put when leaned against a tree or hung from a hanger as well as when traveling and I have my finger on the arrow.

Spent the afternoon hunting ground squirrels with my female decker terrier. She is almost two years old.

By the time we turned around to head back to the road, she had already figured out what I was doing and every time I hit full draw she was streaking toward where my arrow would land. Not sure how she figured out where I was aiming so quick, but she's a sharp one.

By the end of the hunt, we were tied, one apiece. She caught and killed one on her own, and I drilled one at 40 yards. Missed a ton of head shots at 40 to 50 yards, but MAN was it fun.

Bear season opens in a week. Just put a ground squirrel in front of the bear's chest and I'M IN LIKE FLYNN.

Never shot better on game in my life than I did when I had access to ground squirrels. I envy you for that bud.

Great fun.

Thanks Charlie for kind words. your pictures always tell a story of exceptional experience!!  Keep them coming  :)

This thread has been awesome to dig into.  This is what I enjoy most about Tradgang.  Learning ,sharing and fellowship.  fix in to get my oil checked on Tillering skills with HH design.  Going with a 15" riser, straight form that hopefully produces a slight string follow finished product.
Aim down your arrow because thats where it's going.

What are you Hill shooters using for broadheads?Need to make some new woodies up.My other bows were reflex-deflex and now the arrows are to stiff for my Hills. So what are you using for woodies with broadhead and arrow weight?Thinking about going with hex pine from whispering winds.

That's a nice lookin form, Joey.
I thought it looked pretty straight.

Say you want it to follow the string?
Funny how things are -
Remember the wood bows we used to build, and how we tried our best to keep them from following the string? lol

Right on, I was just there.

Great guy and good shafting.

He has more genuine Hill stuff than you can shake an arrow at.  I got 2 feet into his door in his shop and was stuck for about 25 minutes looking at the broadhead collection!

amazing.  cant wait for book 2 to come out from him, I love my first one.
