Joey,

There was a discussion of some different grip styles and photos on pgs. 204 - 208 in this thread.  I can't remember if there were other pages that continued that discussion.

A while back I was showing grips to a young fellow. i let him try my asymmetrical straight gripped yew/bamboo. He squeezed it so hard the resin came through the leather. I told him to get a hold of it, but don't kill it. he tried it and said "I think I like squeezing the crap out of it better." I had to admit that either way did not seem to effect his shooting. If that bow had some kick, I would bet that he would still get a handful, but not squeeze it so hard.

Thanks Ray.

Sunset Hill ,HH and Others?  Do all of these bows traditionally have a 2 inch shorter Lower limb?  Ifmso , why ?

I have been bitten extremely hard and in process of making my own HH Style bow.  This thread has been and will be extremely expensive for ME!!!!

Thanks any any advice on making your own HH style bow welcomed..  Joey

Check out Capt. Dick's step by step build on his page. It's very thorough with pics.

Joey, my HHA Half Breed top limb is 2" longer than the bottom limb.  The Sunset Hill I used to own was about half that...

Why?  I have no idea specifically other than a design preference between bowyers.

I'll give you guys an update on my Sunset Hill. After I found the right spined shaft I'm stacking them in the bullseye! Just a great shooting bow. I think I'm going after a hog monday afternoon.

My 22 month old baby boy is completely enthralled by bows and arrows. He goes to all the shoots with me riding in a backpack carrier and is with me in the yard when I shoot in the evenings. He even tries to help me pull my wood arrows out of the target. Tonight I helped him shoot his first arrows out of my HH. I had to hold the bow level with the ground and he would put his fingers on the string. I helped him pull the string back a few inches and we would let it go and stick into the target. What a blast we had.

Thanks Danny,

I loved that Wild Boar but this one just fits me! If I do my part she shoots great, very stable. Couldn't be happier. Frank

P.S We just lost all our snow earliest I can remember. We are having a heat wave of 70° plus! Time to take the convertible out of the garage!

RC. I love my wesley in string follow even though it is 3 inches shorter than my other hill is is more forgiving and just as fast and has no shock at all it feels like my RD bow.

To those of you that own String Follow HH or Millers or SH....when unbraced, is the riser back ( side touching the lams) a straight parallel or does it have a slight curve to promote string follow.   I will begin working on my forms and wondering if i need to build the string follow intoo the riser also?  doesnt seem right to start at FO becasue that could create a hinge....any expert advise apprecited... thanks
Aim down your arrow because thats where it's going.

Mudd

I don't think string follow has anything to do with the riser but I have already made two mistakes this year...lol

RC I am so looking forward to seeing pictures of your new bow.

God bless,Mudd

joebuck, the risers on my Northern Mist Sheltons (string follow) are straight--no curve.

HHA are really workin hard for us archers/bowhunters! My bow wasn't supposed to be done until the beginning of April, but I talked with Craig yesterday and he's putting on the inlay today and then will spraying the bow already! Should be shipped soon. Turkey season here in NH doesn't start until May 3rd for us but you can believe this is the bow I will be using all season this year. Can't wait to see the pics of your new bow RC, I'll post pics of mine as soon as it arrives, J    PS- Ric, that is a beauty of a Tembo, from riser to limb tips!   :archer2:
