Shot this morning in the 30 degree weather, right as Sunrise. Cup of coffee steaming, Redman smokin. Life is good.

tradlongbow

Just got finishing shooting my Big 5 with caramelized bamboo limbs for about 1 1/2 hours in the 75 degree weather, Man, the weather is starting to warm up. We had about four cold days, the lowest was 39 degrees. After living in Florida for 23 years, you surely get adjusted to the heat.

My wife wanted to see snow for Christmas, and I wanted to go to Key West. We compromised, and we went to St. Augustine. That was 10 degrees colder than where I live.

I really like that arm guard that I got from you. Are you going to have another sale next year?

Thanks,

Maybe this is a given but waxing the overlays reduces fraying and grooving and aids in a clean release.

smoke1953

By the way use parafin not string wax

dragonheart

Are you using parafin on your big shot overlays?

Happy Anniversary Hill thread!!

Thanks to all who contribute so very much of themselves to educate the ones like me.

It's not always the volume of posts that help us glean tidbits of "Hill Gold" but the knowledge that's shared.

Having said that, each and every one of you has been instrumental in making this the "Go-to" thread for a whole bunch of us.

Has anyone ordered a bow blank from Craig at Howard Hill archery? If so, how hard was it to finish it out?

Just goes to show that a good topic and staying on topic can lead to some great knowledge and discussion.  Bravo!

In honor of the thread to be one year old.  With the exceptiong of the longbow, backquiver and bino's, armguard and shooting glove, what five other items did Mr. Howard Hill carry on him when hunting?  And Thank you all for being caring and unselfish brothers and sisters of the Hill Legacy!

Toddster-------that may be the best question asked on this thread so far. I wish I had thought of it!

I also have a related question.

What did Howard Hill put in his quiver to keep the broadheads sharp for a week of hiking and hunting-----but even more important, what do YOU put in your back quiver to keep your broadheads sharp during a week or so of hiking and hunting. Not simply walking to and from a tree stand, but actual hiking and hunting.

(Okay, Okay, I admit it, I want to stalk and kill a big critter while using a back quiver, big time!)

Hmmm... I bet the stuff they sell to put in the bottom of hamster cages would work great or cedar or pine shavings that you can get in the pet department.

God bless,Mudd

Lambow

A pair of pliers for pulling broadhead arrows out of trees, folding knife, talcum powder for glove, and cigaretts.

Can't think of the fifth one.

Can't wait to find out the answer to these questions!!!! What a wonderful thread this has been for the past year!
