I was nervous Rob. My Wesley is marked 55@28 and when I rewrapped it was marked 54 on the grip and thats what it scales @ on the scale I have available. Sooo after talking to Jason I split the difference. I had to drop #'s due to neck back issues but didn't want to give away any #'s I didn't have to. Thanks.

Great insights, GRS.  I too am new to the Hill bows.  I have been familiar with Howard's shooting style from when I was a kid.  For whatever reason, I never had the opportunity to use it on a Hill bow until now.  And like you I'm glad I did.  They are fun.  And challenging.  I hope to post some of the things I have learned when I get a chance.  I think you will see some similarities in the observations.  Thanks for posting.

I changed my new bow order from an Owl to a 66" string follow Tembo, dished osage riser, rust wrap, dark carmelized boo limbs, and clear glass.  Went with a gloss finish for the extra durability.  Kept the name of "Habanero".  Ordered the weight at 54@26.  Anything between there and 60@26 will do just fine!

Craig told me about a three or four week wait too.  Very nice! I'm gonna shoot a deer or three with this one!!

Love that cover photo Rob.  It's all about the adventure!!

Hey guys, haven't posted in a while.  Wanted to show off my new Hill that I got about three weeks ago.  Big 5 68" 50@28, carmilized bamboo, walnut riser, slight dished grip.  Hills are all I shoot and love them!!

MikeNova

Missed one this morning small doe. Had on my black and red plaid, wood arrows and Dave Johnson longbow. My mistake I saw a small shadow over the heart and instead of taking the higher percentage lung shot I used the shadow as my spot, went for the heart and shot low maybe 2-3 inches low. I'll try them again monday evening.

Tadpole ... thats what I'm talking about ! Beautiful mate !

Some nice bows there fellas!

Pete Patterson, your new to you bow would be dating well back into the 1990's or late 1980's wouldn't it or is Franck San Marco still making bows? I haven't seen his name mentioned for a lot of years. Your bow looks to have nice classic longbow lines.

I heard that Frank has started up again. I would love to get in touch with him.

Jeff,
Here's the story.  Two and a half years ago, I did contract with Frank for a bow.  He said he'd about gotten out of the business but agreed.  He said I'd have it by the 2010 season.  However, several things got in his way and when the season came around, he'd not started it.  I told him not to due to the personal issues that had arisen with him.

Almost a year later, the Classifieds had this one listed as never having been shot.  I assume from that the seller had recently received it but as he said he needed to sell it for medical bills.  It was to the specs I had ordered from Frank two years ago........so........I've given it a home.

Thanks for the story behind your bow Pete; I hope you have many years of enjoyment taking it for walks in the bush!!!    :)

Rob DiStefano

just a cautionary note to all on the "hh bug" thread ...

IF YOU POST A PIC WIDER THAN 640, THE ENTIRE THREAD *MAY* GET DELETED ...

... and you will be the reason why.

at the very least, the post with the large pic will be deleted and no effort to contact the poster will be made.

i'm sorry, but the posting of large images is getting out of hand lately throughout all of trad gang land, and we have no way of automatically controlling posted image size. mods and admin just don't have the time any more to hand hold folks on posting images.

i will not delete this thread, but can not guarantee that another mod or admin will.  i will try to intervene if need be.

please learn how to resize your images for postings, it's not at all difficult.

if i can, i will help you - pm or email me directly, but please do not make a post for help with images.
