I couldn't call in the big rack buck that was grunting and making all kinds of noise right before bedding down a doe but this guy came in an hour later. 15 yard ground shot with my Toelke Super D, Easton FMJ with a 200 grain Abowyer Bonehead single bevel.
I waited until he was slightly quartering away. I drew back real sloooooow and when I was ready to take the shot, my eyes went all blurry. Blurry!!! I opened and closed them a few times but they didn't improve. I reached the point when I felt it was time to shoot and let loose the arrow. The arrow hit him and he went right down. He fell on the side of the arrow , left side, and kicked a couple times, lifted his head then he settled down. Looks like I caught him in both lungs and maybe the bottom of the heart. Not sure about the heart if the cut was from my arrow or my knife. Never thought a deer would just drop from a lung shot. It wasn't a pass through. Anyone ever have that happen? Wasn't even close to his spine. Can't complain about a zero yard recovery though.

No explanation for the short track job but nice work anyway!

Congrats. I've never seen one drop like that unless it was spined.

An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it's going to launch you into something great.

**DONOTDELETE**

I had it happen to me with an elk one time. Knocked him off his feet like i had hit him with a 30-06.     ...never seen anything like it before or since either.... dad burn thing just dropped.

Very nice . Your brain took over the shot process after the visualization and your release was automatic. (At least that my explanation and I'm sticken' to it!) Hey I've got a Toelke Whip and I gotta get an animal with it! Maybe a javelina in Jan.!

Congrats! I had that happen to me one time on a young buck. My arrow hit the off side shoulder. I suppose the shock of hitting bone dropped my buck.

Kirk, that's a crazy story!!!

Thanks fellas! I'm pretty sure it stuck his heart, he expired in under 2 minutes after I hit him.
Man, there was a real nice buck grunting and tearing stuff up about a hundred yards away. I finally saw the big tined guy hit the edge of the clearing with a doe and he wasn't going to be bothered coming my way.

Then this guy comes in and I figured why pass on this opportunity.
