I was looking through some of my old magazines and came across an article in a 1997 issue of Instinctive Archer about a young fellow named Walter Lucki which was interesting. I tried to find out what he's up to these days but no luck!  Maybe someone on this forum knows what he's up to or if he still competes?

Phrogdrvr

I shoot with him on Wednesday nights at our indoor league at Cloverleaf Archery Club.  Nice guy, good shot.

Hello caranthir, I was wondering the same thing ! Actually I stepped away from archery back in 2000,I sorta burned myself out....wasn't fun to shoot anymore and I got married, moved, moved again and let life get in way of my dreams.I did take up golf ( competition junkie ) and tried qualifying/competing on the golf tour, but that's a really hard as I'm sure you all know.I still play and hold a +2 handicap for those that golf.I recently picked the bow up again inspired by my five-year-old who found my old magazine and wanted me to teach him ..... Well I strung it up and stunk it up !!! LoL ... Oh well that's what I get for a 14 or so year layoff. Anyway Ive got some desire and motivation now to enjoy it again.By the way .... It's not like riding a bike !!! I'm actually having to reteach myself how to shoot, and my new form is actually quite different then I remember .... But I'm back and thanks for asking ! Walt

Ps.... Im sure Ill compete again .... Just gotta knock alot O dust off

And there you have it!  Ask and you shall receive!

Thanks for the info. Phrogdrvr according to the article I read in the Instinctive Archer magazine he had some pretty big plans for the future. I was wondering if he still has those plans or if he's gotten sidetracked or derailed like a lot of us? Since you shoot with him, maybe you could ask him about it and let him know there are those of us out here who also want to know.  Again, thanks.  Caranthir

Hey Caranthir...I think you missed it... That was him that answered your question.  Cudahunter is Walter Lucki!!!  Small world!!   Great place this TradGang!

You can ask the man himself!!!  :clapper:

Walter won the coveted Howard Hill World Championship in 1997.  He was on the cover of the 1997 Instinctive Archer Magazine - here's that cover and the article on him ...

Hey Walter, I shot with you at Stockbridge Sportsmans club in Mass back in '97 or '98. You had a younger guy walk around with you while we were shooting, nice kid, sorry can't remember his name. My buddy and I had a great time shooting with you guys. You beat me by 3 points. The screw fell out of my glasses on the way to the last target and the lense wouldn't stay in so I had to shoot with out them on and got a 5!!!!!  We joked about it and I called you Walter "Lucky"!
I still have the magazine you signed for me.

My bad, I didn't make the Cudahunter/Lucki connection. Duh!  Sorry about that.  Sure is good to know you're back Walter. Hope you get the "edge" back. I like to read about younger folks in  our sport and what thry are achieving to advance it.  Much LUCK to you Walter. Caranthir
