Cresting Brushes

Working on new arrows and I am having trouble getting good coverage without getting to much paint on the shafts. Is there a preferred brush material for cresting? I'm using testors enamel if it makes a difference.

I use Mack automotive pin striping brushes.

I've gotten by with a feather vane tied to a Qtip... worked pretty good too!

Good brushes sure do help, but make sure your paint is thinned properly.

For wider bands of color I sometimes have to do two coats to get 100% coverage. No big deal though. I use artists brushes and a liner for the tiny lines.

I think some use brushes that are too stiff and they end up just pushing the paint around without good coverage. Find a brush with long soft bristles. If you have an arts supply store in your area you might take a look there.

Micheals or Hobby LObby usually have a good variety of quality brushes.

They have an incredible selection of brushes. Tell them what you need the brushes for and they'll fix you up. Their brushes are much better quality than what you'll find in the "hobby" type stores.

I have had my Mack brushes so long that I cannot even remember what I paid for them.

For the wide lines I borrow one of my wife's brushes. The longer the bristles, the easier to get a nice clean application.
