I`ve decided to hunt the rest of the deer season from the ground and have had a bit of frustration but it paid off today.

The frustration has been having deer too close. I had a doe a week or so ago at about 6 yards,I started to put some bend in the bow and she stepped towards me and then behind a tree and was gone. Another day one winded me at 10 yards but today was different.
I was running late and eased in to an old blind just before "deer" time. I could hear Turkeys for a while. I sat a while and drew my bow a time or two imagining an old doe standing there. It was all I could do to keep from trying a squirrel just a few feet away when I heard a deer coming through. I love to hear that sound coming through the leaves. I was ready with my bow up. She hit the opening and the arrow flew true. I heard her run hard toward the swamp but did not hear her bust water which gave me a whole bunch of hope for a quick recovery. I was not disappointed.

She was only 75 yards away or so. The Grizzly had done its job. I did not take pics of the blood trail because the batteries in my camera were about dead and I wanted to save them for some "deer" pics. It was a small doe but one of the most satisfying shots I`ve ever made.RC
