I have been reading about the new triple carbon Habu. Many people say you have to shoot one to really see the difference. I called Chris and asked if he had people in my area and he said yes. So to advance my search does anyone within 150 miles of Stafford Virginia have a newer triple carbon and would meet with me so I can get a look and maybe even shoot it. I will drive and will not need more than 15 minutes of your time. Just needs to be under 55#s at 30". I am not trying to buy it, I just want to try it.

what I want to order is a 64" longbow, but would try a recurve also.  Thanks  Ed

No one has a Habu ? I am starting to get the feeling this is going to pan out like the OL Adcock ACS did. All kinds of wonderful comments from a few people that own the bows. Then you order one and wait 3 years before you get your deposit back. I have talked to Chris and OL. Both have greatly interested me in getting one of their super superior designed and built bows. And I am usually willing to wait for good workmanship, But I don't no if its worth the wait when I cannot even get to see one of the bows.

I have kind of the same feelings. Once there were some Habu limbs offered for sale that I thought I might be interested in, so I called Chris and asked how long it would be to get a riser for them: two years.  Two years is a long time to wait for something I might not even like.

On the plus side, I've never heard anything bad about Chris not living up to his side of the deal (assuming we all live that long).  Occasionally they do come up for sale used, and I would assume a bow that expensive has been well taken care of.  Probably if you buy one used and it is in good shape, you'll be able to sell it for close to what you paid for it if you don't like it. At least that's what I keep telling myself if I find one that I like that's for sale.

2-3 years-Really? Why don't you try A&H Archery if a 3 piece longbow is what you are interested in. Larry may even have a stock bow you can try.

Habu bows are great bows.  Some of the prettiest bows I have owned and great shooters.  I've owned several.  Still have one now.  Sorry I'm not close to you for you to try it.

I know it's a hard decision based on price.  If you can try one, I would before I paid that much, but they are nice.

Mike I could come to you any time the weather will let us meet. I am retired so I can run any time to see you. And yes from the list of bows you have there I would like to meet you.
Steve I will see his Eaglewing, but I know It will not be as beautiful as the one you are making me now. Thanks Mike let me know by e-mail if you want to make arrangements.

That was nice Ed. Your bow is beautiful. However I am going to build another complete bow for you. I came in over poundage for some weird reason. This one will probably be my hunting bow next year. Oh well back to the drawing board,. I will be starting the new one tomorrow. This one will never make 40 or under at 30 inches lol.

God bless, Steve

I live in Marshall Va. but my VK is 60lbs @ 27''. Been shooting Chris's bows since 1999 and MANY other makers as well. I'll hunt and shoot another for months at time and for grins, pick up my Habu and throw a few arros thru it, and it always amazes me on how simple it is to shoot accurately w/.

Yes Habus shoot that good.  They are that well made.  So are a good handful of other bows by other makers, but as far as sheer performance combined with craftsmanship the list is pretty short.  Sixby, Centaur, Bigfoot and possibly A&H are in that group along with a few others I can't think of.  Though I don't like the way A&H feel at the shot at all.  But that's just me. Habu price too high?  That has to be relative to how you value things and what you value labor at.  IMHO most handmade bows are priced too low for what they are.  Is the price of a Mercedes or a handmade over-under shotgun too high?  Again, its all relative.  My particular VK, the only one I can speak for is flawless, and it is one of the finest shooting bows I have had the honor of sampling.  Yes it's for sale right now (lefty and heavy don't get excited) but that's only cause I want a chance to try some other bows in my lifetime, like Sixby's for example.  It probably won't sell.  I haven't had any luck yet.  Does that make me sad?  Not in the least.  How could I be upset when I have a Mercedes or Porsche in the garage to put it figuratively?
