Normally when I kill a deer Ill knock the guts out and drag by the head or horns to the truck.Most deer are around 150 lbs.When Im way back, I'll quarter one up to take out.I saw the GAME SLEDS advertised and figured Id try one.Looks like a big orange tarp with straps,my model is good to 400 lbs.Maybe this thing will be the ticket when Mr.bear comes in!Ill let yall know how she works.

Over the years I've made a few. Take a kids plastic snow sled attached a few bungie cords across the top to hold the deer in place. And I attach a long ply pull cord to the front. I slide a 18-24" piece of rubber hose over the ply rope. I usually run the pull cord over my shoulder and across my chest to pull.

I stash it in the woods and leave it for the season.

I still like wheels on a cart.

I have thought about buying the roll-up ones a few times. We finally got phone check in around here though so I'm going with the gutless method from now on.

Around here a wheeled cart is a nightmare.

I've been using an ice fishing sled for a few yrs. now and I really like it. I try not to slide it over gravel or bare ground if I can help it. I usually hunt alone. I load my deer in the sled drag to where I can get to it with my vehicle, then load on to a cargo tray that fits into the receiver on my truck or SUV. Been working out real nice. You don't have to lift your game so high when loading, and leaving it in the sled when transporting makes for easy clean up when done. Just hose out the sled.

I've tried the sled and it does work better than dragging, but I was in the local farm store yesterday and they had the deer carts there for $39 so I'll give that a try this year.

for a snow situation we got skis at a yard sale for 8 bucks built a wood platform an throw on a rope It worked great. we built the platform about a foot high.we screwed eye bolts on all four corners an bungied our deer to the sled.total build out was less then 15 dollars.gitter done

Jet sleds carry game and gear in the field and truck.  Love them. Easier than dragging just the critter but still not easy unless to have wet grass, leaves,  or snow.  Sure is easy to load a animal in the truck and keep things clean. Throw in all the ice you want and not have a mess.

I have tried the sled and they do make it a bit easier but still tough to justify the cost as it does not make it that much easier. 150# gutted deer, you must have monster deer. I live in NY and even a 3.5 year old buck will go about 150 dressed most of the time. I have killed an awful lot of deer and my biggest was a doe at 187 dressed. The wheeled carts work well depending on the location of the kill, field edge and along corn fields, but down in the woods are useless where I hunt. Let us know what ya think! Shawn

Shawn, most bucks Ill shoot will go right around 150.That being said Ive only killed three deer over 190lbs.Where I live in Va. we can 3 bucks and ALL the does you want to pay for.With whitetails and turkeys and an occasional bear,to hunt I have been fortunate to many deer myself!
