I'm looking for my next purchase and wanted your opinions about st joe river bows.  I'm leaning towards a recurve but it does break my heart to get another longbow either.

What are your overall impressions both good and bad?  I'll be hunting with it so I'm more interested in issues like stacking, smoothness, point ability, and stability.   I want a bow to send an arrow with authority, but it does have to be the fastest.  As long as it is consistent, I know I'll have to do my part too.

I really like the combinations they're doing with the risers, but flashy does help in the woods.  A quality bow is what I'm looking for.

I do not own a St. Joe River bow but have shoot a number of their bows at the trad show in Kalamazoo over the last few years.  IMO they are one of the smoothest drawing bows out there.  For me everyone of their bows sends the arrows right where I am pointing.  I have never noticed any stack on the bows I have shot.  Besides that they treated my son and I like they had known us for years.  Just my two cents.

Awesome bows and David and Tracey are top notch!  Give them a call, they have a test drive program where you can try before you buy or order.

Shot one at ETAR and it was really nice and smooth! The owners seem like great people too! the one I shot wasn't my favorite grip, but they can make one to fit you i believe.

I had a St. Joe recurve from the original bowyer and I killed a bunch of critters with it.  In a weak moment I sold the bow.  Dave and Tracey have done a good job with the company.  Tracey has made some changes to the grip that I think are positive and the smoothness of draw is still very good.  They are plenty fast and one of the quietest bows I have owned.  I will have another.

I have one of their recurves - 2 piece TD. Extremely well made bow, smooth draw and very quick and quiet.
I`ll keep watching the classifieds until I find one for my wife as well......

I've never owned or shot one of their bows, but have talked to them at ETAR and they treated me and everyone else they talked to like family.  They took the time to answer any questions I had.  My mom was looking for a bow and Tracy was very helpful in answering any questions she had.

Hunted all last season with a wonderful SJ Recurve.  Killed my first trad deer with it.  Immediately ordered a longbow after seeing Arwins posts from last summer/fall.  It's the first longbow I'm actually able to shoot.  For some reason longbows never jived with me...but the SJ...I will kill a deer with that longbow this fall.

Bamboo core, carbon laminate, grey elm under black glass.  Smooth, fast, and most importantly...silent.  I love it.

I bought my daughter one of their kid longbows. They were great to deal with and the quality was way better than I expected for a kid bow. I've actually messed around shooting it. Of course I short draw it but even then it shoots really well. TonyZ.

Great people to deal with and Tracy is an artist when it come to unique designs on your bow. I have shot several of their bows and like what has already been said very smooth. I just ordered one for my grandson can't wait until he see's it    :archer2:

Yessir. Never shot one I didn't like. The entire family has one. The smoothest bow I've ever shot. I own a lot of Hill-style bows, but every time I come back and shoot this one its like I'm not even trying.

I have purchased 2 youth longbows for the kids and liked them so much that I ordered one for myself this spring. Great people to work with and my bow is one of a kind to look at. A couple people shot mine at GLLI this year and all were surprised how smooth and quiet a 58" longbow can be.
But Lord, he has been there four days, surely he stinketh by now.

Thank you for the kind words every one.  :notworthy:
