This is I think my 3rd homemade longbow. 66" and 52 lbs. Maple cores killed several deer and pigs with it maybe 8-10 years ago..

RC, you and Pat B. are my heros. If I could only have 1/4th the success and hunt opportunities y'all have it would be many times the harvests and opportunities I have had. I retire next July. I plan on trying to catch up with you guys, if that is even possible.

I have not made any bows though  :(

When you retire come to Ga. and hang out a bit. We`ll have some fun.RC

My first I built a 55@28" 60" (only because I messed the tips up....I was attempting to build a 62") hybrid longbow.

Curly maple veneers and bacote handle. I had a great year with that bow killed 4 does all from the ground. The tips are antler from my first trad buck. Also killed my first trad turkey the fallowing spring with it, a 23 pound tom with a 10" beard.

this is my most newest. i made it about three years ago now.

this is my same bow and one that i made for my uncle down on blackbeard island.

a buck i killed with the same bow.

pig with the same

eman614

and a stingray at port st joe

some fish i shot with the first bow i ever made.

my first trad buck

first deer with my newest bow. its the same bow as in my first post

bobcat i shot with the first bow i ever made.

thats all i got.

Way to go with the homemade sticks, guys!

I have only built one bow myself but have never killed anything with it. It just does not seem to "fit" me and I am not near as confident with it as I am my others. That being said, I will never sell that bow either!

Seeing all of y'alls pic makes me want to break it out of the closet, practice a bit, and go shoot a critter, so I can add a pic to this thread!

Here's the first deer I killed with a bow I made (2010).  The bow as cherry limbs with actionboo core, walnut riser, 68" 54# @ 28".

And here's one from 2012.  This bow is black glass on the back, clear glass on the belly over curly maple, actionboo core, cocobolo riser, 68" 58# @ 28".

I still have yet to kill a buck with a bow I made.  Missed one a couple years ago.  Maybe this will be the year with this bow.  I went "old school" with this one...brown glass on the back, gray glass on the belly and myrtle riser.

Here's mine.  First glass and take down.  I don't have any kill pictures with it yet but hope to change that this year.

KennyM, those pics with your son are fantastic, and from what I've seen when I finally take the plunge my stuff is definitely coming from you.

Very cool.  I wish I could find the time to tackle building bows and trad hunting.  For now I'll just have to admire the great work of others.

RC

Jsweka, That bow laying on top of the doe is a fine looking bow.
