SCATTERSHOT

Just got my Prairie Predator from Mike today, and thought I'd show it off. It's 60", 45#@28", with a hickory riser and walnut limbs. Brown glass. These are made as ladies and youth bows, but they are light and maneuverable, and suitable for hunting. Mine draws smoothly to 27", my draw length.

Here it is, as received, and dressed to go to the dance. I wrapped the handle with leather lace, and added some limb skins. can't wait to shoot it.

Thanks, Mike.

Thanks, guys.

TW, I've been having problems with my knees lately. Don't hunt anymore. Best of luck to you, though, this season.

I have talked to mike a couple times...when I finally get out of this financial hole that's the bow I'm ordering...a prairie predator!  Congrats on a beautiful, functional piece of art!

That is sharp.  I've got one that's 52lbs and it's as quick as anything else I own.  Don't let the ladies and youth description fool you.  These are great little bows.

The prairie predator "accidently" turned out to be the top seller.  (But the retro recurve is quickly catching up.)  I initially made the form for the prairie Predator (formerly the midsized longbow)  Thinking I'd probably never make one over 30#, but that was just about the time that short longbows started getting popular and most of the ones I sell go to adult guys.  I am finishing one up today that only draws 20# @ 27" though.

thanks again to mike for the generous auction item and hats off to a quality craftsman!

I have only been shooting a little over 8 weeks now and things have been tough.  Started shooting a 25 lb longbow and quickly bought a 45 lb recurve that was not a pleasure to draw and shoot.  I began to wonder if a 58 yr old man was wise to take on such a venture after shooting compounds for years.

Then I saw a 42 lb Mountaineer in the Sponsor's Classified section and thought I should give it a try.  Wow.....what a different world!  Smooth as silk with no vib and very quiet.  I can't stop shooting this bow and it is teaching me how to shoot properly.

If that Prairie Predator is anything like this Mountaineer then you have you one sweet shooting longbow.  Oh yeah......Mike tells me that his brother Dan Mecredy was responsible, for the most part, of the building of my bow.  Either Mike is an unbelievable teacher or he has a natural born artist as a protege.

This will not be my last bow from Maddog.

I took the better part of a week, out in my brother's shop, he's in a very rural part of northern California.  I showed him all I know, we made 2 bows that week.  As far as my teaching skills, the only explanation is, I spent at least 16 years of a 20 year career in the Air force, training subordinates on aircraft fuel systems.  Bows aren't quite as technical as aircraft.  He told me he learned more that week than he could ever remember learning in a week.  It helps that he took notes, and listened, plus he loves archery and he's creative.

I'll post another one he got done soon,  it's a mountaineer, he made it a bit more narrow than usual, plus I found it interesting, he has it cut slightly more than center.  It's the least "spine picky" longbow I've ever shot.  I just need to mark the weight and apply the finish, then I'll post it in the sponsor's classifieds.

Bought one of mikes bows for my daughter, and it's faster than one of my 50 pounders. Awesome bows and mike is a great guy
