Yesterday was the first I have been able to get out Gobbler hunting, and it was a late start at that. I have had a cold /sinus garbage  going on for a few weeks and the chance of keeping quiet was nill.

Anyhow, a guy can only take so much gobbling going on around his house. Beautiful field of green and yellow.

Up at the top of that field is a dirt road that runs clear into the woods. I rounded the bend in the field and saw this bird heading in the direction where I should have already been. Put the camera on zoom,he was a couple hundred yards away.

I had to change plans quick,so decided to cut thru some thick brush and get set up. I spooked a robin out of this nest going in,she let everybody know that she was not happy.

I got down across the creek and decided to try and setup and watch this little flat. It was covered with May Apple.

I do not hunt out of a blind. I try to find some good backdrop and a big tree to break things up.

I do use a decoy though, and when I slid my Waldrop and pack off I was looking at a black hole.

Slim (my decoy) had decided to jump ship on me. What a chicken!

Like I said earlier,I was still carrying around the creeping crud inside of me but decided to set up anyhow.

This little Mayfly took a liking to my riser...

Great looking pics! Hope you continue and have a speedy recovery with the crud.

He hung out for awhile on my bow while I tried to sound like a lonely, looking for love hen. It was a beautiful morning, but I knew it was going to be all to soon that I would be feeling that goobly goop dripping down the back of my throat. I tried to hold back as long as I could and then just had to let loose in the crook of my arm. No such thing as a quiet cough in Turkey woods.

Well, maybe next time. There are a lot of birds around. I know I won't be going back out until this cold is gone.

Oh,I kept my eyes open on the way back out, there was my buddy Slim, right where he landed when he hit the ground....

Nice pics Craig.  I hope you feel better soon. I know your pain with chronic sinusitis.

Looks like Slim was laying down on the job. Nice day to be out anyway.
